Growler, shared with Gabe. Pours a medium, poorly retained, off white head, collapsing to a thin head over a clear dark copper amber (SRM 15) body....nose is heavy cereal malts with heavy barley tones.......taste is cereal with hints of rye spice, leading to biscuit and bread tones, finish dry with light bitterness with tiny hints of butteriness....mouth feel thick, creamy reminiscent of oatmeal, astringency low, carbonation leads to a creamy mouthful. This is a very malt forward beer. the malt bill must have been delightfully complex. Although dominant, the malts do not give heavy sweetness, rather it is the cereal aspect which is most present. All in all, this is a nicely balanced, reasonably light beer, with many characteristics of an Irish. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7 mfrato (110) - - JAN 28, 2013
On tap at the brewery, great color. Buttery aroma, interesting taste but its missing something, just an OK beer. arminjewell (9584) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 22, 2013
Pour on tap at the brewery, clear orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, some slight hints of red fruits, touch of yeast, bready notes, slight weird vegetal note as well. Taste is a mix of caramel, biscuit, bread, some yeast, red fruit, hints of spice, the vegetal note comes in again, finishing sweet. Something weird or off.
