COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We use over two pounds of real vanilla beans in each seven barrel batch to infuse this brown porter with amazing complexity and a smooth rich flavor. There is nothing subtle about this beer.

Draft, Brew at the Zoo Benefit in Denver. Poured a dark brown color, nearly opaque. Head was thick, tan, and dissipated over a minute or two to a thin film. Aroma was of cocoa, vanilla, and an occasional whiff of cola. Slightly sweet on the tongue, but also very roasty. The vanilla is tangible, but relatively subdued. There is also a fair amount of cocoa flavor. Pretty good.

On tap @ Dry Dock poured a translucent brownish black with a minimal amber head. Aromas of vanilla, coffee and a hint of chocolate. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of vanilla, milk chocolate and a hint of roastiness with a smooth semi-sweet finish.

Draught at brewery. Pours dark brown, near black, with a small creamy light brown head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, cookie), light hops (flowers), average yeast (leather) with notes of vanilla, tar and cola. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

On tap at the Dry Dock Brewery Tasting Room. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Nice vanilla ice cream with a scoop of chocolate araoma. I was really into this aroma. The vanilla was nicely done. Tastes of vanilla, chocolate with some roast. The vanilla was done very nicely in the tastes as well. Light lacing left on the glass.

Started the night off with this porter. Impressive frothy light brown head but disappears unfortunately. Typical porter dark brown body color. Turning to the smell, moderate cookie and milk chocolate aroma with heavy vanilla and cocoa.

This beer smells good and tastes just as good. Initially moderate sweet and light bitter flavor is shrouded in an exciting vanilla taste followed closely by the cocoa. Sweetness tapers off as bitterness increases around the swelling cocoa flavor lasting long on my palate with a medium body. Trivial oily texture with a bit of alcohol lingering as well. This is a great porter and complimented with the vanilla. Maybe a bit strong as first but I will agree with Jason, this is almost a desert in-and-of itself. Cheers to the Kevin’s!

Kevin Delange presented this chocolate-colored brew to EValP and myself in elegant stem glasses. Not much of a head but the aroma was something else: intense vanilla beans, cocoa powder, and cookies. The flavor is quite sweet- vanilla (they use real vanilla beans from Madagascar) and cocoa dominate along with a slight bitterness. Lighter in body and mouth feel than expected. Finishes dry with a lingering cocoa taste. Some beers work well with desserts, this one is a dessert.

tap at the brewery.
everytime i go there i drink at least a pint of this stuff. pours black. aroma, is vanillaa touch of caramel and honey. i love vanilla, put it in a beer and i will probably love it, so i love this beer. a nice bean flavor, it really dominates everything in this. the other flavors are a hershey like chocolate, and some unknown lacticlike sweetness, but lets talk vanilla, it hits you up front, on the back side, all over the place. dries my tongue a bit on the sides and makes me smile.

The guys at Dry Dock have been working on their vanilla porter for some time now and it has gotten better. It’s a very rich, dark beer with a strong vanilla aftertaste. I enjoyed it.

Little aroma. Dark brown with a limp head. tastes like someone squeezed artifical vanilla flavoring into a cheaply brewed low roast porter.
