UPDATED: OCT 12, 2010 To be fair - if I could re-rate this today, I doubt that a 4.7 would the outcome. But once upon a time I loved it. Bigsilky (327) - Charleston, USA - MAR 25, 2005
Had it on draft in Dublin. Spectacular. Nice roasted flavor with some unlying malt sweetness. Very nice balance and polite finish. I was lucky enough to have a good barman run the glass under hot water before he poured the pint; the roast and smoke lept out of the glass. If ever in Dublin stop by the cobblestone and have a pint. kateheller (3) - Nebraska, USA - JUN 13, 2005 does not count
great flavor, wonderful color. I had it in dublin at the brewery. I found their beers to be some of the best ever. LoveCaissa (873) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 5, 2004
Wow - Guinness go home! This is one great stout. Deep, deep brown colour, light brown head. Lovely roasted aroma with plenty of chocolate. HUGE flavour: chocolate, dark fruits, and a massive dry, bitter finish. More complex and sweeter than Guinness I would say, but not too much due to the plentiful hops. mrkimchee (1414) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 20, 2004
black with red hints, huge tan head. aroma of rye brad, roasty malt, mocha, smoke and coffee. smooth mouthfeel with a flavour that’s roasty yet soft. bitter choclate and burnt sugar in the flavour with substantial roasty bitterness. very nice. thanks dave.

Black color, light coffee liquorice aroma and taste, full body, long bitter finish. faroeviking (11119) - Chupando chellas es como ellas, FAROE ISLANDS - JAN 21, 2007
Bottle. Black colour with a nice big creamy beige head. Nice roasty aroma with chocolate and coffee. Flavour: smooth, roasty maltiness, chocolate, coffee, slightly fruity. Bitter finish. Very tasty stout indeed. Jeppe (2631) - Brooklyn, Alabama, USA - MAR 1, 2004
A beer doesn't get prettier than this.... Very dark almost totally black body with a tall fizzling dark beige head (the darkest head I have seen on any beer..!!). The aroma is awesome, though maybe a little weak. Lots of roasted malt, liquorice and bitter chocolate. Flavor is bittersweet with notes of liquorice, hops and pilsner malt (?). A very nice stout, but needs a fuller body to be great!
