H.E.R.O. Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter was created by the winners of our first ever H.E.R.O. homebrew competition, Tony Huckestein and Doug DeLeo. This jet black porter is full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and rich malty flavor accented by notes of chocolate, coffee, and peanut butter. This complex flavor profile is balanced by a subtle hop character and moderate 6.5% abv., making this unique beer surprisingly drinkable.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2016 12oz bottle at the fainting goat in DC. Nearly black with small white head. Smells of strong chocolate and some peanut butter. Taste is more chocolate than anything, some pb, but delicious. Like drinking a Nutella beer. Tastes like a tootsie roll but better. Sweet, nice mouthfeel. I like it.

Draught. Dark brown with reddish tint, large beige creamy head, mocha aroma, dark chocolate taste, medium carbonation, long chocolatey finish. Feels like a chocolate frappucino with a bit of alcohol, but still nice.

Has a dark brown color, and a sweet chocolate aroma. Goes down smooth, and tastes like a tootsie roll. Has a slight bitter finish.

Pours deep amber with thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a mix of dark roasted malts, black strap molasses and then rolling into a pleasing and inviting level of peanut butter. Cool. The taste delivers some sweet molasses and black licorice initially. About midway a modest peanut butter note joins in and takes this into the finish. Pretty nice.

Thanks to the kind soul who shared this at the recent Tampa Crew Tasting. Pours a hazy brown with a white head. Nose is roast, light coffee, and some chocolate and peanut butter. Flavor is similar with the peanut butter living among the chocolate and coffee. Interesting blend here with some mild dark fruit creeping in, too. Light to medium in body and interesting overall.

22 oz. bottle shared at Jackie O’s by??? Pours brown with a small beige head. The aroma is nutty with some chocolate. Hints of black coffee and earthy notes. The flavor is big peanut butter with only slight dark chocolate notes. Gets more bitter toward the finish. Interesting, but needs more flavor to make this better.

willblake (2664) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - JUL 3, 2012
20120703 tap at Bel Air at release and again from bomber. PB is more noticeable in bottled version, yet still not prominent. Lovely dark brown with soft mouthfeel and cocoa notes. It’s a nice porter despite not really living up to its moniker.

Reynolds314 (3477) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Pours dark brown / black with billowy beige head. Aroma is huge peanut butter and very surprising with some chocolate and roasted notes. Taste is surprisingly peanut buttery and almost salty. Very strange but pretty good.
