3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured from a large-sized bottle into a pint glass to sample. The beer had a dark brown rust color with a red-copper hue, with a large creamy tan head that had short retention and good lacing, but light cling. The aroma featured earthy and grainy hops with touches of licorice and dark fruit with raisins and prunes, and a mixing of cocoa and chili. The taste was deeply sour and bitter with a cocoa presence mixed with intense chili spice, and some grainy hops underneath. The body was a bit thin with lower carbonation; the beer began wet, but became more dry as the intense spice kicked-in. Overall it was a well-made beer, but the chili spice was a bit too intense.
On tap SLL tasting. Pours a black color with a thin dark brown head that faded to spotty lace. Aroma is mild roasted chipotle with a touch of milk chocolate and caramel. Taste is creamy and semi-sweet milk chocolate up front with roasted pepper and spice in the finish. The aftertaste is pepper and a lingering light burn. Full body, fairy thick with a good chew to it. Nice smooth pepper burn, low carbonation. Homer321 (5248) - Melboring, Florida, USA - DEC 6, 2014

From notes, consumed on 5/5/13. Bottle poured into a tulip. Pours jet black with half a finger of tan head. Aromas of mostly chocolate and peppers/chiles. Tasting notes of dark chocolate and big chipotles. Warm chile finish. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Really enjoy the pepper heat in this. alexsdad06 (11223) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - DEC 2, 2013
22 oz bottle shared by someone at Natifest. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet chocolate, mild roasted malt, peppers are mild on the nose with an increase on the flavor. Just the right amount of peppery spice to keep this drinkable. bu11zeye (13239) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - NOV 18, 2013

Taster from a bottle shared at Natifest 2013. Thanks to Phaleslu. Dark brown but clear color. Good light brown head. Good spread of lace. Good coffee in the nose, dark chocolate. Light chipotle in the finish. Very nice kick. Light carbonation. Bigger body. Lightly chewy. Spicy (chile-spicy). Moderate sweet. Interesting, assertive chipotle stout. drsordr (2925) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2013
Bottle pour at Natifest 2013. Pours an opaque dark brown. Nose mostly milk chocolate. Mild roast. Taste again milk chocolate, roast, then hint of pepper in the finish. Pepper more an aftertaste, not overwhelming in heat. Plays well with other flavors. phaleslu (10895) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 5, 2013
22 oz. bottle from BMart- thanks again! Pours a deep brown with amber highlights and a small beige head. The aroma is rich and sweet, with chocolate, fudge, coffee, vanilla, and just a hint of the chipotle pepper. The flavor, though, packs a lot more chipotle, but all in the back end. It’s led with chocolate, fudge, caramel, and toast. Finishes spicy. Heat on the palate and throat. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, spicy mouthfeel. This is how a pepper beer should be done. Not overwhelming, complementary, and lingers a bit. JStax (7307) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - AUG 4, 2013
Bottle shared at natifest. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate. The tastes let’s some pepper heat sneak into the equation with a tingle on the back of the tongue. Chudwick (3423) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - AUG 3, 2013
sampled at NatiFest 2013 - amber/brown pour. smoky/rast nose. milk chocolate flavor with hot spice. clearly hot.
