Firkin Friday at Bowie location on 06/07/13. Arrived at the table a golden amber color with the slightest skim of a beige head. The aroma was loaded with plenty of fresh strawberries, some honey, candi sugar, and a crisp graininess. Went down relatively thin and watery with a low level of carbonation. The taste started with a lightly sweetened graininess and some honey. The end featured lots of strawberries and a touch of lemon. Things got a bit too cloying by the bottom of the glass - overly medicinal and even a little boozy warmth. kmweaver (3208) - Petaluma, California, USA - JUN 6, 2008
Firkin @ Arundel Mills on Firkin Friday. Pours a very hazy, dull honey-orange color; headless. Lots of fresh strawberries, sweet red fruit character, and light sugary malts in the aroma; fresh fruit character, not syrupy. Very relaxed carbonation. Medium mouthfeel: lots of sweet strawberries, sugar water, and very sweetly malt-forward: quite sweet in the mouth; the fresh fruit note (I’m really curious how the fruit addition went) adds a lot here, but it’s still a bit too sweet and could benefit greatly from a more substantial hop presence (mixing it in-mouth with some Hellrazer did wonders). Medium finish: strawberry sweetness, red fruits, and soft sugary malts; very soft profile overall.
