3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium body stout. Tan head that lingers on the sides of the glass. Aromas of charred oak, cocoa and bourbon. Taste is sweet dark chocolate with very little bourbon up front. Lingering boozy finish with a dryness lending to the flavor on the palate
Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is roast, chocolate, vanilla, wood. Thick mouth, chewy, chocolate, roast, caramel, very sweet, really good. GenDV138 (7277) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - SEP 4, 2014
From notes, consumed 8/14/2013. 22 oz bottle poured into a Belgian snifter. Barrel aged from 3/21/2012 to 9/21/2012. Black with half a finger of tan head that fades quickly. Aromas of milk and dark chocolate, cocoa, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, coffee/espresso. Tastes of big bourbon, cocoa, dark chocolate, vanilla, burnt sugar. Medium-full body with a dry and warm finish. Good but expensive. Enjoyed this more than the Cocoa Vanilla variant. hopscotch (11078) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 7, 2014
Bottle... Pours midnight-black with a creamy, brief, khaki head. The complex bouquet is a swirl of dark chocolate, toasted oak, vanilla, bourbon, maple syrup and pouch tobacco. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. The flavor is a bit too sweet, offering a mélange of dark chocolate, molasses and dark candy sugar. Lengthy, sweet, chocolaty finish. I enjoyed the other treatments of this beer, but this one was totally cloying. Fairly enjoyable, but drinkability is low. This gem was tasted at Dark Lord Day 2014. Pours black with a tan head. Nose of oak chocolate, ripe fruit and hops. Full body and smooth creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is very rich and complex with the chocolate and ripe fruit dominate but the hops hang in there to the bitter sweet finish. Really really good. ndfreak77 (126) - USA - FEB 7, 2014
Pours Dark brown almost black with a nice cocoa aroma. Sweet cocoa flavor is balanced with coffee and bourbon notes. Very tasty! Maybe one of the best stouts that I have ever had and I really like stouts. Unfortunately, the restaurant that I was at saw fit to charge 20.00 for 22 oz. I hope to find better value at the beer distributers. Would definitely be worth 40-50 dollars for a case.

Bottle at home. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy brown head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is oak, prunes, and dates, bourbon, roast and chocolate malt with earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with bourbon, oak, dark fruits, light hops and bitterness, and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation. bigguns22 (798) - Maryland, USA - APR 27, 2013
I think the best of retribution yet the cocoa nibs are like hops and it adds a great bitter note that none before it have and it cuts the sweetness greatly. If you like dark chocolate this is for you and me. snoworsummer (5694) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 25, 2013
Draft at DuClaw. Pours rich dark brown. Strong flavor. Tastes of alcohol. Too intense, hard to taste the coco.
