Bottle. Pours amber orange with a white head. Sweet bourbony boozy notes up front, with a toffee sweet malty base, light bready notes, and light fruity notes as well. Not bad. Westchesterco (2188) - mclean, Virginia, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Bourbon smell, golden, clear, white foam, medium sweetness, full body, creamy, long finish, Iphonephan (7283) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - FEB 23, 2013
On draft at the Mad Fox Barley Wine Festival, Falls Church VA. Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of raisins and grass. Viscous mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Flavors of caramel, toffee, vanilla and oak. Lovely. Ibrew2or3 (8814) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Huge thanks to hopscotch for bringing this growler. The aroma has nice notes of oak, vanilla, some sticky malts and pine hops. The taste is great with smooth sweet malts mixing with smooth oak, sweet vanilla and a hefty amount of pine hop goodness all flowing together seamlessly. It ends with the addition of a weak pulse of whiskey along with lingering pine hops and vanilla. This just comes together amazingly well. I could drink this all night. markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 1, 2011
Thanks to hopscotch for the share. Damn too bad this one had no carbonation (I know- he told us it was from cask). Pours a clear orange with a assumably white head. Nose is whiskey, caramel, toffee, and some vanilla and wood. Flavor is similar with caramel, toffee, whiskey, and some burn in the finish. Light to medium-bodied and a nice beer overall.

Growler (from cask)… Farewell to ibrew2or3… This beer rocks!… Hazy burnt-orange ale with a slight rose tint and no head. The nose is a ribbon of caramel, Black Jack, vanilla and oak. Full-bodied and creamy with only a trace of carbonation. The flavor is caramel, caramel and caramel flanking Black Jack and vanilla. Finishes hearty, sweet and very warming. Thanks to ygtbsm94 for providing the growler of this world class beer! HonusWagner (2226) - Florida, USA - MAY 31, 2011
TYVM to Eric for the nifty growler.
In my opinion, the barrel was pretty oppressive on the overall flavors of the beer. I mostly pulled whiskey out with a bit of oak tannin and some red and purple fruit sweetness. Drop some of the time in the barrel and this could be a damn good bw though. Shaftie (218) - , Maryland, USA - MAY 28, 2011
Thanks to hopscotch for this one. Vastly superior to the batch of Devils milk I had a few years ago. I dishonor the generosity of drinking companions yet again with a terrible rating, this wasn’t as dark fruit heavy as my previous batch and the barrel didn’t dominate, good, get sum!
