COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Devil’s Milk is an American-style Barley Wine. This beer exhibits a wealth of fruit flavors, from pears to plums to raisins. Devil’s Milk is dry hopped (hops added after fermentation) for a strong bite that balances its big malt backbone. Served in a snifter glass because of the high abv, barley wines are perfect as a relaxing “after-dinner” drink or nitecap.

Bottle in train in Belgium - going from ZBF to DHVL. Clear amber brown - white head. Barley, lots of barley, citrus, high sweetness, ryebread, toasted, berries, karklud, wet dog, citric, grassy, sharpness, nice hoppy aroma. Too sweeet, too simple.

Bottle shared by alexsadad06. Poured clear dark orange in color with an average white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy malt and dark fruit aroma. Moderate to heavy smooth thick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor to medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met with a complex beer.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of a free beer contest run by GMCC2181. Thanks! Not sure how old this was when I got it, but I’ve had it 13 months, so its got some age. Also, thought this would be fitting for my 3666th rating. Pours a clear dark strawberry red with a medium tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, brown sugar, citrus hops. The taste is toffee, brown sugar, berries, citrus, peppery hop notes. Medium-full bodied. The hops have probably faded some, but I like that better anyway. Nice malty barleywine. This has aged well.

Lubiere (14240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 22, 2009
A deep reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. A good rich caramel malt in aroma , with loads of hops, very vinous notes. In mouth, a rich oily sweet malt with oranges, light grapefruit, marmalade. Rich and smooth barley wine. On tap at Duclaw Baltimore, Dec. 29 2008.

Tasted from Growler. Poured a darker and clear mahogany color with a very small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus, light cherries, and all around hops (very hoppy). Tastes of caramel, some dark fruits, and grapefruit. Light warming alcohol bite in the finish (but not 12+%).
