Devil’s Milk is an American-style Barley Wine. This beer exhibits a wealth of fruit flavors, from pears to plums to raisins. Devil’s Milk is dry hopped (hops added after fermentation) for a strong bite that balances its big malt backbone. Served in a snifter glass because of the high abv, barley wines are perfect as a relaxing “after-dinner” drink or nitecap.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2006 Growler... This beer rocks!... Thanks to Wendy for picking up a growler in Belair, MD. I thought I would never taste this great brew. The aroma is very malty and sweet. Notes of spruce, perfume, milk chocolate, yeast, port and brown sugar and fruit...and this just in... ALCOHOL!!! Beautiful beer. Crystal clear ruby hue. Very small, white, creamy head. Fully diminishing. Very malty and sweet up front, with bursts of caramel and sherry. The hops balance things out with good bitterness. Warm alcohol and slightly pungent on the backside. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Long, malty, lightly bitter, tart, dry finish. World class brew! Good going Jim!

Bottle @ home, courtesy of my Secret Santa I believe. Pours a murky dark orange appearance with a thin tan head. Dark fruity, plum, raisin, brown sugar, light caramel, herbal hoppy, a bit spicy aroma. Somewhat goopy, rich caramel, sugary, apple, pear, plum, somewhat chewy, light cardboard, somewhat boozy flavor with a fairly boozy, burning finish even when cold. Overall, pretty solid beer.
