4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 91 of 168. Aroma is full of raisins, alcohol, chocolate and fig. Full flavor and sweet like candied raises. A very unique beer that has some mushroom notes and like retribution a great desert beer.
Bomber, bottle #145 of 168. Poured very deep brown with a short-lived, deeper beige head. The aroma picked up lots and lots of sweet bourbon, honey, and raspberry-like sweetness, with secondary black pepper stone fruit, and vinous character.. lots going on, and it was warm and interesting. The flavor opened with tart fruity notes (raspberry seeds and vinous notes more than anything else), with honey, molasses, and rich darker fruit sweetness following.. warm bourbon was laced throughout, leaving peppery hits on the edges and the finish.. syrupy finish with charred molasses, dark fruit, honey, and bourbon. Heavy-bodied with just enough carbonation to keep it moving.. big, bold, and very complex.. quite an experience. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 25, 2013
22 oz bottle, 81 of 168. Dark brown with fading tan froth. Nose is dark chocolate, bourbon, wood, dates and fig with hints of black cherry. Silky and sticky medium body with a tang. Sexy warming with an airy finish. Taste is cane sugar, smoky dates, wood, bourbon and mocha. Not quite a stout anymore but an awesome American Strong. Pours black with a strong sweet sugar aroma. Big sweet body with minimal roast, but strong dark fruit flavors with notes of prunes and figs.

154 of 168. Purchased @ state line. Pours dark brown, very little foam. Nose is sweet with a touch of licorice. Very sweet on the tongue but quickly turns to alcohol burn.

Pour at Al’s of hampden, Thin head that fizzed away very quickly. As you would expect from a beer of this abv. Smell was of sweet bourbon notes, liqourice, chocolate. Taste follows much along the same lines as the nose. All in all this is an amazingly good barrel aged stout.

Bottle gratuous of sloth, cheers. A big beer. I’ve had colossus, but never retribution. This blend is amazing. Bold bourbon nosed with a big mouthfeel and long lasting finish. I couldn’t be asking for much better than this. Notes of toffee vanilla and dry oak bourbon finish off the palate. The alcohol is present and boozy but I like it a lot with this style. Sort of feel humbled to be drinking bottle# 50 out of 168. MadRobin (2988) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - DEC 6, 2012
On tap at Frisco Taphouse & Brewery in Columbia, MD
Opaque, black-brown with thin tan head and very good lacing.
Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla, molasses, dark fruit, dark roasted malt and chocolate.
Taste of molasses, toffee, caramel, vanilla, sweet roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, oak and bourbon.
Full body and low carbonation.
Rich, full, dark and sweet. Delicious, but maybe too sweet and malty. Plenty of bourbon barrel though.

Nice taste. Lots of alcohol on the front with sweet after taste.
The Colussus overpowers the retribution a little but good none the less.

Good one here. YEah it is rare but not only that counts. This one has plenty of bourbon.
