I’m sorry but this is the best beer I’ve ever had. The flavors blend so well. I’m not a hop fan, hate ipas. This beer is "LIQUID GOLD". I wish I didn’t have to to MD to get it. Mdsurveyor (46) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - MAR 15, 2012
The pour is a clear reddish brown with a thin creme head. The scent is mild but fresh, with definite notes of toffee. The taste is caramel with a semi-dry toffee after-note. Subtle lacing on the glass. A mild but very drinkable ale. My favorite DuClaw offering.

Pours a nice medium brown color. Lightly hopped for an ale. Finishes with a pleasant buttery nut flavor. jehoey (765) - Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2007
aroma was full of mocha and deliciously malty. Really great aroma! dark amberish brown with a head that cleaved to the edge of the glass. flavor was much like the aroma accept even better. lots of mocha flavor, carmal maltiness, and some toffee. good medium palate. The best brown ale I’ve ever had. dsm (109) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 1, 2007
Draft at Fell’s Point. The aroma of toffee, caramel, and chocolate is strong. The taste is magnificent. It is well-balanced so the toffee/chocolate flavors remain the focus. It has a mild but lingering aftertaste. It is sweet, but not overdone. I love this beer. My girlfriend says "it tastes like a pretzel." I have no idea what she is talking about.

12 oz bottle. I liked the toffee flavor which goes well with a brown. Not too sweet which is a plus. richlikebeer (838) - Easton, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2009
arundel mills - i loved this beer. deep bronze body and a ton of toffee and chocolate coming off..not a lot of head, but the flavor basically reminded me of drinking a heath bar (which is one of my favorite candy bars, hence, i loved this beer). very light body, i could have drank this all day...the flavor that delivers for a beer that isnt very heavy is impressive. hypn0toad (267) - Maryland, USA - AUG 19, 2010
Mmm. Brown color, chocolate taste. NO TOFFEE DETECTED. jgb9348 (6249) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - NOV 30, 2012
Nice clear strong ruby-tinted light amber coloured body with a deeper glow and a thick, four centimetre thick light brown head - nice. Aroma of light earth, nuts, malt, caramel and a hint of lactic scents. Medium-bodied; Assertive earthy and nutty malt with a lot of caramel, some light spices and a ton more nut flavours. Aftertaste quite complex with malt, caramel, toffee and then the nuts - peanuts, walnuts, cashews and a lot of earthy bite. Overall, a very pungent and relatively complex nut brown - this is what this style should be judged against - quite good and very nice to sample. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 24-October-2012 for US$1.79 sampled at home in Washington on 29-November-2012. nimbleprop (8370) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 22, 2006
Maple brown with a white creamy head. This beer had a sweet aroma to it. The taste was stronger than most other nut browns, very sweet and sugary. The flavor is extremely strong toffee, with a brown sugar and maple finish. Very clean after taste. All in all wonderful, but a little too sweet to be consumed in mass. Worth a pint.
