COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Someone call George Clinton because the Funk is about to arrive. DuClaws latest creation, Funk, is a blueberry citrus wheat ale that screams summer with an almost shandy-like crispness and flavor. This brew features Meyer lemons and blueberries as well as Cascade and Columbus hops. Look for this beer on shelves starting next Friday.

Draft. Poured clear golden color with an average fizzy white head that was lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate fruit, yeast and citrus aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet & bitter flavor with a medium bitter & sweet finish of moderate duration.

Tallahassee, Fl - ABC Fine Wine & Spirits - Betton - 12 oz bottle. Sparkling, light golden pour, nice bubble action, soft, silky white head with light lacing. Berry-like aroma with a hint of minty coriander. Flavor has some light citrus bitterness, some blueberry fruitiness, wisp of vanilla in the back end. Crisp mouthfeel.

Pours a fairly clear light golden color with no head. Nose is straight up blueberries and grain. Taste is bready, grainy and mild blueberries. Not a tremendous palate pleaser but on the thirst quenching side. Finish is bready, grainy and ends on mild blueberry notes. Fair at best, but not wheat lover. Quaff Score6/ 10

Standard longneck, bad label. Clear, yellow, not much head. On the cold side, the wheat aroma comes out, as it warms it becomes more pastry-like. Crisp and hoppy, not sweet, biscuity. The berry is just a nice accent and doesnt take over. The citrus zest quality makes things a bit strange on the bittering front, and maybe a little unpleasant in the finish - it lays on the top of the tongue like aspirin. Lightish body. ABC Liquors, Betton.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold body with a thin and fizzy white head that vanished pretty quickly. The nose is quite fruity and juicy with a minimal malt impact. Smells pretty tasty actually. The flavor is a bit lacking though, its very thin with just a light watery fruitiness. Extremely light bodied with fizzy fine carbonation. This could pass for a flavored seltzer, its that thin. I guess its good that its not overly sweet and cloying, but there really needs to be more going on in here.

Bottle from Beer and Wine. Dark golden body with slight haze and medium to low head. Nose is sweet, blueberries, and citrus kick. Taste is berries strongly up front, with wheaty and straw taste in the middle. Some citrus notes and the berries return. A pretty strange brew...

bottle, from Bottle Revolution RDU, Packaged 03/22/16. ok aroma, sweet fruity. little dance with blueberry and lemon, golden orange color, not much head or lace. bitter sweet flavor. light body, thin smooth creamy mouthfeel, dry sweet finish. its ok, guess i went in with different expectations with a name like funk, but nothing to excite me. aroma is best part, IMO. nice fruit. taste doesnt offer same dimensions

On tap at SLL tasting. Pours a clear golden with a white lacing for a head. Smells of citrus and grassy malts with juicy and fresh berries throughout. Tastes of grassy malts with lemon citrus and lemon grass flavorings and a slight banana. Slight berry tartness in the finish. Medium body with stinging carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2016 Draft at The Irish Pol. Hazy amber pour. Lots of egg-shell foam. Some mild blueberry syrup in the nose. Fairly full body with toasted wheat malts and enough hop bite to mute the sweetness. Balanced but pretty sure no actually blueberries were hurt in the manufacturing of this brew.
