12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, spicy rye, fudge, brownie batter, toasted dark/brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready/rye malt, chocolate, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, spicy rye, fudge, brownie batter, toasted dark/brown bread, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/piney hop, roast/char bitterness; and peppery rye spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, spicy rye, fudge, brownie batter, toasted dark/brown bread, nuttiness, smoke, charcoal, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, herbal, pepper, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/rye malt, chocolate, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and minimal acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/silky, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is an awesome imperial chocolate American porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready/rye malt, chocolate, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV; even with the increasingly bitter/drying finish. Very rich and well rounded malt complexity, with great chocolate presence, and balancing earthy hops. Kind of a dessert beer in a way, but the drying char bitter/spicy rye finish keeps it feeling like an American porter on style. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Bottle. Viscous nearly black, soft brown head. Aroma is chocolate syrup and bread. Dark chocolate liqueur, roast, coffee bitter finish. Too sweet with way too much chocolate syrup for my taste.

Bottle.Sweet dark chocolate aroma. Classic dark porter appearance with a large and frothy brown tinged head. Sweet chocolate and malt flavour with a touch of bitterness. Full bodied with a slick oily texture. Long sweet finish.

355ml bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown almost black with a small, short lived, light brown head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, toffee and dates. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and a hint of vanilla with a dry, bitter, spicy rye finish. Medium to full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.

Darkest brown, half inch of tan head. Aroma is burnt toast, chocolate, dates. Taste is heavily chocolate immediately. Chocolate start to finish. There is a pretty bitter finish there. Rye is not obvious (I wouldn’t have been able to pick it out), but if you know it’s there it does explain a bit of heat/pepper that comes through. Interesting, and, i think, enjoyable.

Its pretty good but basically is just another decent chocolate Porter that’s kind of amped on the Cocoa.
