Hoppy, but not damaging to the hop gland, if you have a sensitivity. Beautiful amber, grapefuity undertones, smooooooth with a sneaky little bite, & actually quite heavenly if you ask me. Yum! Nice replacement to Venom. Thanks! Terp1977 (63) - Frederick, Maryland, USA - OCT 12, 2012
One of my favorites. Hoppy and strong but so drinkable. Love supporting local and this one is tops.

Duclaw’s Hellrazer has a citrus aroma that reminds me of Serum XX but not so powerful. For an IPA its a bit dark but the explosion of flavor it provides from first to last drink strikes the palate without mercy. Definitly worth the minor price increase due to a shortage in hops the company reported not long ago.
A great addition to Duclaw’s staple collection for however it may last. seekingup2 (80) - - JAN 2, 2012
A big win for me!! Love DuClaw and have been waiting for a ttrue IPA from them. This one hits the spot! Great aroma and wonderful hops flavors!! Beerathon (1683) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 12, 2012
BOOM!!! That’s what this beer does in your mouth. Great hops and a sweet malt backbone. The aroma entices you and then the flavor overwhelms your tastebuds. This is not a beer you want to drink first if you’re sampling many because it wrecks your palate...but I like that!

Pours a nice copper color, leaves some nice lacing...aroma of citrus, lemon spice, interesting combination, noticeable sweetness as well molasses, syrup? Taste is solid as the malty sweetness intermingles with the hops..leaves a bitterness on the palate..enjoyable.. wickedpete (634) - Lexington Park, Maryland, USA - APR 16, 2008
Clear gold body, fluffy white head lingers, leaves clingy lacing. Aroma is subtle, rich sweet sticky hops, lemon zest, and sugary candy. Flavor has bitter hops, thick and chewy, sweet cotton candy note, fresh hoppy finish but a bit of celery vegetable in the aftertaste. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - AUG 15, 2008
Growler courtesy of beachbum25. Pours copper with a generous white head. Smells of citrus, perfume, resin, dough, caramel, some light pepper. Tastes moderately bitter with lots of earthiness, touches of citrus, some spicy hints. Finishes earthy. Very enjoyable! riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 31, 2008
Growler from Beachbum25. Thanks. Bright gold pour with a nice fluffy lasting head and super sticky icky lacing. A really nice looking beer IMO. The aroma is of toasted caramel malts, some bread, and hops in the form of earth, citrus, and wood. Nice toasted malts, a touch of sweetness, all rounded out with nice earthy hops, citrus skins and wood. The carbonation is light and the beer drinks very smoothly. Quite good for session drinking. Poured from bottle. Pine and citrus hops and ocean in aroma. Solid amber with just a bit of head. I taste a ton of hops, grapefruit/citrus followed by pine, floral and grass. Malt is sweet, almost honey flavor - complements hops nicely. Pear notes. Alcohol flavor in back. Good drinkability for a beer with this much going on. Great IPA.
