"XXX-1 Pin-sanity" at Arundel Mills location on 03/30/12. Came to the table a deep mahogany color with no head at all. There was a fairly subtle aroma of cocoa, black coffee, vanilla, mint, and pumpernickel bread. Went down fairly thin-bodied with a low level of carbonation. A tad watery. There were some dark chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla flavors upfront taste-wise. Some bitter coffee followed. Present throughout was a touch of pumpernickel breadiness and a hint of spearmint. Enjoyable. I would’ve preferred to have had the pumpernickel flavors turned up a notch as they really complemented this brew’s already existing rye qualities. scottw86 (1175) - Maryland, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma has lots of rye and pumpernickel. Taste has lots of interesting grain flavors with the rye and pumpernickel flavors blending together. Some slightly minty flavors as well. Slightly creamy, and perhaps a little too malty. Overall it is interesting and worth trying. arone12 (928) - Maryland, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Pours a black color with a thin head. Slightly more carbonated than the other varieties I tried today but still not a whole lot of carbonation to the beer. Not a very strong pumpernickel aroma or taste. But still an okay beer.
