COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This golden Belgian ale will mystify you with its medium body, its subtle malt and hop profiles, and its complex blend of spices. Fruit flavors, produced by a special strain of Belgian yeast, combine with Belgian candied sugar, chamomile, grains of paradise, and cardamom to create an unfiltered ale so intriguing, youll never want to get to the bottom of the mystery ... or your glass.

Wow, intense aromas on the poor. Spiced indeed! Unfortunately this is not matched by the taste. Smooth and drinkable, but flavor profile is lacking. Hints of spice and ginger, but guess I expected more of a smack in the face after that aroma.

This beer to me was not backed by enough malt. Slightly spiced with a small belgian finish

Bottle. Pours a clear light copper body under a small fizzy white head that fade to a thin covering pretty quickly. The nose is intensely spicy with a lot of herbal character, floral notes, and some light Belgian yeast. The flavor is just a little too over spiced for my tastes. Theres a lot of camomile in here and it overpowers much of the benefits from the yeast that they used. Its much more like drinking herbal tea than a beer. Light bodied and with very fizzy spritzy carbonation. I think this clearly belongs in the Spice/Herb/Veggie style, cause theres nothing that says Belgian Ale about this beer. This one doesnt do anything for me.

Bottle. Deep gold, light head, medium body, a bit slick. Spiced aroma with a little sweetness. Overall okay.

Thin, white head. Nice carbonation, bready, yeasty taste. Not too much going on here. Inoffensive at worst.

This beer is intriguing. Has a lot of flavors that blend well together. Not bad but not a favorite.

Draft at brewpub. This one poured dark straw toward oprange with minimal head and turbidity. The nose was rock sugary malt, yeasty spice, and hopcitrus. Tasted as it smelled, with the body being a bit less than the nose would indicate.

Appearance: deep brassy amber orange, with a quickly vanishing off-white head and minimal lacing. Aroma: yeasty and floral, with definite notes of grains of paradise and caraway seed. Taste: a bit of citrus and honey up front, with some candi sugar and yeasty spice, with a grainy malt backbone underneath. Finish: a little dry, with lingering fruity and spicy notes. Notes: Nothing to write home about. Lots of fruit and spice notes, but nothing comes across that makes this beer distinctive or memorable for me.

Reviewed 12/25/2012. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours golden amber color with a nice haze to it. The head is a one finger offwhite color that retains itself poorly, leaving only a collar around the rim of the glass. S: Holy fuck, thats a shitload of ginger. There seems to be a little bit of spruce and chamomile, as well. Sadly, the spices overpower everything else, basically - but it kind of suits the Christmas spirit with the way it smells. T: The opening flavors are, again, loaded with ginger, chamomile, and slight spruce - even a little pumpkin, seemingly. It turns into a decent but generic Belgian pale after the midtaste. I dont really pick up much Belgian yeast, however. The finish is pleasantly earthy. Its a bit one note, but nonetheless pleasant. M: Well carbonated with a semi coarse texture. Not nearly as astringent as Id expect it to be, but very clean on the finish - clean, but not fully dry. O: Hardly my favorite beer of all time; however its manages to carve out a niche for itself with its uniqueness. Good for fans of ginger.

12oz bottle. Looks kind of unimpressive. Mostly clear orange color. With a minimal white head, which fizzes away to pretty much nothing. Flavor is pretty nice, though. Good orange - citrus hops, that work well with the spice aromas, here. Medium body. Good lighter carbonation. Easy to drink. Light bitter, some orange zest. Interesting flavor.
