2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAY 12, 2013 12 Oz bottle poured into a tulip. Dark orange color decent head, citrus, vanilla, basement aromas. not very good I was expecting better
Cloudy, dark amber pour with scant, creamy foam. Medium body, light fizz and slightly slick. Earthy and spicy aromas including pepper and perhaps cinnamon. The flavors are pleasantly complex including the chamomile and cardamom advertised. The malt sweetness manages to compliment the flavors and the beer has a spicy almost dry finish rather than a sweet, sour end. A very enjoyable variation on an amber ale. Perhaps best suited to early autumn. thegreenrooster (4402) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - JUN 28, 2017
Pour is a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is a some sweet honey with some nutmeg which I guess is the cardamom. Flavor is more of that nutmeg with honey and maybe some ginger. I do not get much of the Belgian aspects of this beer but this had a nice perfume spice to it. A bit thin but I kind like this because of the odd mysterious spices. closey22 (1945) - Mt. Don’t let the label scare you. Pretty good refreshing beer. Yes it’s different. Taste profile includes apricot, floral, and licorice. Maybe a bit grassy and peppery. Decent offering worth a try and an ocassional revisit tillmac62 (734) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - APR 10, 2017
BOD 12/23/16. Clear copper pour with a heavy dash of amber. Below average head volume. Poor retention and no lacing.
Outstanding nose with a burst of cardamom over a sweet base with hints of chamomile. The Belgian yeast contribute a blended substrate of banana, light phenolic clove and a touch of pear/apple.
Medium body that is smooth and has hints of creaminess at the finish. The carbonation / body balance is outstanding. The middle subtly provides just enough effervescence to open the flavors up. The finish is more powerful and delivers a nice prickly burst to close the show.
The flavor profile is quite good. It delivers with the cardamom spice but is a bit too intense, hence balance is out of kilter a bit. Dial the cardamom back slightly and this one can become outstanding. It begins with a light chamomile touch that cardamom quickly overtakes. The sweetness of the nose never really materializes and consequently the contrast to allow the pear and apple notes to appear fails to occur. Roughly three quarters through, phenolic clove is evident. Clove and cardamom linger after the finish with clove being the last man standing.

Kroger bottle. Pours gold with a soft white head. Aroma is somewhat pleasant: fruit, perhaps plum, light grass, light gum. Flavor is meh. Up front is sweet fruit, followed by dry grass, and an herbal dough finish. tia (2226) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - MAR 22, 2017

On tap at POUR. Light sweet with lemongrass and grassy herbs. Medium golden clear with thin white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Moderate sweet herbal start, watery honey sweetness, and citrus rind. Mild bitter finish with dry herbal after. DialSquare (5029) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 17, 2017
12oz bottle from god knows where: gold pour, off-white head. aroma of minty, herbal, big ginger. tastes are even ginger, citrus, spice. little earthy, floral. Kleg (256) - The Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 10, 2017
Mostly clear dark gold color with a white head and decent retention. Light lacing. Taste is a mottled mix of spices. I taste the cinnamon but it gets lost with other flavors. Meh.It tastes similar to a pumpkin beer without the pumpkin and in this case that’s not a good thing.
