Firkin Friday at Bowie location on 03/26/10. Came to the table a murky old gold color with no head. Strong aroma of cinnamon and vanilla with the wheaty/floral smells of the original (orange peels, coriander, and lemon) pushed to the background. Thin to medium-bodied and smooth. Served up a bit too undercarbonated and warm for my taste, even for a firkin. The taste is lightly sweet upfront with cereal grains and some vanilla. Tangy orange peels and lemons finish things off. Tingly cinnamon is present throughout. Interesting. TommyTilt (67) - Maryland, USA - MAR 26, 2010
Firkin, Duclaw, Bel Air MD. Poured a cloudy orange. Looks just like Tang not fully disolved in water. No head at all, and no visible carbonation. Strong aroma of vanilla, floral, and cinnamon. Tasted citrus and vanilla. Got a hit of nougat from the middle of a milky way bar. Tiny bit of carbonation at first sip. Palate: perfume, flat... willblake (2654) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - MAR 26, 2010
20100326 Firkin at Bel Air. Clouded orange with zero head. Expected at least a slight carbonation, but this was still. Aroma is huge and pungent perfumed old lady with citrus, rose, coriander, and lots of vanilla. Body is a bit thin, you can see where a normal wit benefits from copious eff because a limp isn’t much fun. Flavor takes some getting used to, but it’s okay. Umami, vanilla, mild green apple, lemon, and a late astringency from the cinnamon. Luckily the regular sawtooth is good. ryan (3186) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - MAR 23, 2010
Heavily spiced with an overpowering amount of vanilla and cinnamon, some coriander and orange in there as well. Relatively enjoyable, but spices just drowns out the base beer completely.
