I jet had this beer last night. Completely took me by surprise. Nice hoppy aroma. Great balance of sweet and bitter. I’m looking forward to more duclaw products in the near future. beerandIT (300) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - FEB 10, 2011
Awesome name and bottle label that’s for sure. Very malty on the aroma and palate. Probably one of the more malty double IPAs I have ever had. I can smell wheat, straw, oat, malts and some hops. About a medium bodied beer. Not that much head to speak of but lots of lacing thus far. More of an east coast IPA with a bitter hop finish about mid way through the finish. This is a great beer and highly recommended. jcos (1851) - Maryland, USA - FEB 4, 2011
Bottle shared with buddy Dave. Might need to drink this one fresher next time. Nose had significant hop smell, but taste wasn’t as strong as expected. Nickls (2535) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JAN 24, 2011
Bottle. Mostly clear darker amber-orange with an eggshell head that leaves some spotty lacing. Piny and slight grapefruit hops slight alcohol as well in the aroma, pretty tame here. Sticky piny hops with a grapefruit finish, but an underlying sweetness that’s a little too close to sugary for my taste. It does move onto a drier finish, but the sweetness in the middle makes this a little difficult. Medium body with subtler carbonation. Just OK. bottle thanks to nellie. poured gold with a white head and some lace. aroma was pine and caramel. flavor was pine, caramel, and sugar with a sticky body and low carbonation.

Opaque apricot in color with a little bit of white head. Aroma is mellow tangerine, and maybe a hint of peach, with underlying caramel malt. Taste is the same, and it is very much malt-forward, and not aggressively hoppy in any way. Very even hop bitterness into the finish with pleasant spruce and grapefruit pith notes. $9/22oz jasonp (1581) - Ashburn, Virginia, USA - DEC 10, 2010
22 oz bottle. Pours an attractive amber with an off-white head. Aroma is subtle, earthy with grapefruit and a tinge of alcohol. This has a strong pale malt and caramel base. Has notes of wood, toffee, earthy hops and grapefruit. The hop bitterness is there but also present is plenty of malt. I wouldn’t say it necessarily ends sweet, though. The body is nice, very full and round with moderate carbonation. Overall, a solid beer but not bursting with the hop aroma and flavor like I was hoping for with a $9.99 price tag. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - DEC 2, 2010
Bottle:   Hazy amber, a little fiery in color, moderate frothy head, dies quickly, leaving fairly nice lacing.   Somewhat of a dank basement like malt aroma, some stale hops perhaps?   Has that wet aroma to it.   Smidgen of caramel.   On the tongue it has a fairly assertive caramel malt like base.   Works well with its moderately hopped attitude.   Not a hop bomb by any means, and I am glad for that.   Semi-sweet, some citrus, a little bit of caramel, and some stale/wet hops is how I would describe this.   Oh, and a decent malt base without being overly hoppy.   It is a little dull.   Could stand to be brighter in its hops and in its sweetness.   Otherwise decent and fairly well balanced.   Thanks for the bottle Jon! pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 25, 2010
22oz bottle acquired via a trade many months back. now is a good time as any as this has been sitting in the fridge for so long. i digress.... pours an average hazy copper brown with a thin to medium silky white head... aroma of oxidized caramal malt, and what it seems like candied tropical fruit hoppiness... flavors of semi-sweet and faded tropical fruit hops, perhaps a little pinneaply with an average caramel malt backbone. bitterness is kept at bay for the most part. medium to full bodied with average carbonation. not the freshest sample in the world so it is what it is.
