Thin tan head, fair retention, sticky lace. Almost black, ruby hued ale. Nose of soy first, lil roast, chocolate and grains. Body is fully medium, lil oily with a soft carbonation. Some cherry chocolate cough medicine flavors goin on with a big ass alcohol kick to boot. This would be better than most cough medicines but it aint cough medicine, sooooo. Fuck it. Bitch is tough. 22 ounce thanks to Michelle. Dark body with creamy chocolate milk meets cherry (fruit esters). Some prune. Slight barley wine aroma. budznsudz (582) - Audubon, New Jersey, USA - DEC 30, 2012
Pours dark and opaque with a thin ring of head. The aroma is oaky cocoa, roasted malt and black licorice. The taste is fruity malt and rich toasted malt. Barleywine and Russian imp stout are my two favorite styles and they compliment each other quite well here. Arayaga2 (2197) - portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 29, 2012
Inky brown/black with a cm of camel-colored head. Aroma is chocolate, fig, and light coffee. Taste is the same, and rich and sweet, with the prominent minerality of well-water from my childhood, and some autolyzed yeast components, which mingle with acrid roast notes. $10/22oz PhillyCraft (7225) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 9, 2012
On tap, pours a black shade with barely any head, small amount of lacing Aromas and flavor is ultra buttery oak, toffee, hops, and some bitter grains, roasted malts, chalk, vanilla, cereal, and other smooth notes. Maybe my favorite of the lineup Duclaw brought. Makes sense since devils milk is my all time fave from them.

Tap. Murky mahogany pour with a light tan head. Sweetish prunes come in first for the aroma, followed with touches of chocolate, coffee, some citus hops, and toffee. Flavor is quite similar, but leans a little too sweet, again pruney, toffee, some slight hops, dark fruit finish. Thicker firm body. Butters (4059) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - NOV 1, 2012
Bomber pours opaque near black with ring of decent light brown head. Nose of roast and chocolate and slight coffee. Flavor is more imperial stout than barley wine. Roast chocolate with chocolate covered black cherries and other stone fruits with an expresso finish. Velvety chewy body with some alcohol warming, but surprisingly smooth and easy drinking. This was quite nice. Elwood (3336) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - OCT 14, 2012
Serving: 22 oz. bottle. It pours damn near black with a thick tan head. The nose is fruity with stewed plum, raisin and roasted malt notes. The flavor is a great mix of chocolate, dark cherries, coffee, roasted malt, slight earth and minerals and a touch of alcohol. Rich and full bodied with soft carbonation. I enjoyed this one. _angst_ (4802) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2012
Bomber thank to Pete (non-RB) and to some extent GT2. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a small mocha head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with toasted malts, vanilla fudge, cereal, "American" coffee, cardboard, lemon zest and hints of old bread. Taste is sweet and bitter with caramel, coffee, cereal, toffee, hay, alcohol and lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and very tiny sour with toasted malts, caramel, vanilla fudge, hay, lemon zest and cereal. Marsiblursi (3076) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 6, 2012
(Bottle) Pours dark brown to black with a pale brown head. The aroma holds dark fruits, juicy dark berries, cookies, roast, rubber and some hops. The flavour is light sweet, medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of aggressive roast, fruits, berries, resinous/citric hops and burned cookies. The mouthfeel is soft and light tart with a light carbonation. Fruity roast on the finish. Medium bodied.
