Bottle... Pours black with a mid-sized, creamy, taupe head. The aromatic highlights are brownies and molasses with an afterthought of licorice or anise. Medium-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor is mostly burnt and bitter with only a touch of sweet toffee. Finishes charred, carbonic and moderately bitter. Mdsurveyor (46) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - JUN 13, 2012
On draft sampler. A black beer with substantial lacing. The scent is excellent, with a roasted caramel scent. The taste is not quite as good, with a subtle malt quickly overpowered by the alcohol.

Bottle. Black bodied with a short, foamy brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, molasses, brown sugar and burnt caramel. Taste is dark fruit, roasted malt, coffee notes, vanilla, brown sugar, molasses, hop notes, burnt caramel, and hints of brownies. Body is medium with a soft, creamy carbonation. There’s only a mild warmth from the alcohol but plenty of stickiness throughout. Ends with more roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, vanilla, ripe dark fruits, and hops. kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - MAY 20, 2012

Bomber from Sloth! Nose is raisins, chocolate, with hints of toffee and coffee.Black with a small tan head. Flavor is very fruity, light bitterness, and a little chocolate. Finishes with a little alcohol warmth and bitterness. Decent but in no way spectacular. erothvt (1) - Fort Meade, Maryland, USA - APR 30, 2012 does not count
For the alcohol content of the beer it is very smooth and not overly spicy, which I tend to see in higher content beers. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 26, 2012
22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Smells like Fig Newtons and chocolate cake; crazy. Creamy, nitro-like mouthfeel with a spicy buzz. Taste again is fig with rum raisin, coffee and bittersweet chocolate. The stout balances the sweetness of the barleywine but comes off a bit muddled though still tasty. reggiedunlop (3726) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 21, 2012
Pours black with a thick mocha head. Aroma has some subtle dark fruits, lt cocoa, and vanilla. Flavor follows suit and adds some nice roasty and mild coffee notes...a touch of a metallic flavor. Mouthfeel is full and creamy with a roasty dark fruit finish that has some bitterness and a metallic note. Slightly disappointed in this...but bob the old doper hippy once told me expectations are reservations for disappoinment. He was right. lamas (1655) - Washington DC, USA - APR 15, 2012
Draft at Arundel Mills location on 04/13/12. Came to the table a dark mahogany color with a skim of a beige head. There was a light malty aroma that featured some vanilla beans, plums, cocoa, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and some tangy berries. Went down relatively thin to medium-bodied. There were some dark fruits (berries and plums) accompanying some light caramel and brown sugar notes upfront taste-wise. Some vanilla beans, chocolate, and cocoa powder followed. Some slightly bitter roasted coffee finished things off nicely. Plenty of warming alcohol was present the whole way through. Interesting, but this really just made me want a Devil’s Milk on its own.
