Appearance: Nice tan head; Nose: Peanut Butter and Roasted Barley; Taste: Full Bodied with a dominate peanut butter with a malt chocolate roasted coffee finish. Mouth/Feel: Smooth to dry. Interesting brew that I enjoyed, however thankful I only picked one up. Overall: 3 out of 5 shrubber85 (11324) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAR 19, 2016
Bottle. Strong peanut butter, chocolate, malt, and straw aroma - like a Nutty Buddy bar. Dark brown with large tan head. Lightly sweet peanut butter, chocolate malt, and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice balance. Patrickctenchi (6561) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - MAR 8, 2016
Ruby-black with a frothy tan head.
Peanut and shell aroma.
Dry-roasted, burned peanut , chocolate malt flavour.
Unexpected taste..not sweet at all..........a nice husky bitter, dry and ashy.
More roast peanut than peanut butter.
Very enjoyable...nicely different than most peanut-oriented beers.

Bottle pour - near black with flecks of red when held to a light - minimal tan head. Aroma is interesting - peanut butter is very obvious, dark malts, extremely roasty (burnt malt notes), but all with an underlying sweetness with some coffee and chocolate...one moment I’m thinking this is really cool and the next I’m a bit turned off by things - odd. Flavor hits up front with some peanut butter, sweet malts, then turns quickly to bitter with burnt sugars and malts. Coffee plays in the background...this one came out a lot more bitter than I was anticipating, and not in a good way. Odd, slightly sour finish plays with my head a bit too. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side for something this roasted. Quite meh on this one - I’m usually a bit high on my ratings, but I’ll bring down there average here a bit... I couldn’t get a hold of the Karl Strauss Peanut Butter Porter but my buddy Beercation hooked me up with this wonderful consolation prize:
DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus! Chocolate Peanut Butter Potter 6.2%
Wow, the aroma on this is great - roasty nutty chocolate, the image in my mind is of toasted nuts covered inn luscious chocolate. Awesome.
Medium-full bodied with a raspy carbonation. The taste is nutty, roasty, bitter chocolate.
This is really really nice stuff though the aroma kicks the flavors ass though both are great. Umm, nutty chocolate goodness... PorterPounder (7898) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 16, 2016
Newport News, Va - Total Wine & More - 12 oz bottle. Dark, cola-like brown pour, long lasting, medium thick khaki colored head. Aroma of generic brand peanut butter and topsoil with a hint of chocolate. Bold flavor with peanut butter being the most prominent, some trailing chocolate accents, similar to a liquid Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Mouthfeel could be just a tad thicker to match the bold flavor. Overall, a pleasant novelty.
