3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black pour with a decent sized khaki head .... aroma is all chocolate baby, with a light roasted and caramel malt ..... taste is of chocolate/cocoa, roasted and caramel malts ..... body is nice and full with a light oily/slickness to it .... finish is lightly bitter ... the rye is hardly there, but this is a solid imperial porter .... almost reminds me of a southern tier choklat
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is huge roast, dark chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with sweet roasted malt, rye, and dark chocolate, light bitter finish. Good. jkwood04 (5463) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 12, 2014
22oz bottle in a teku. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, light notes of coffee, some of the rye notes, some light sweetness, dough, and a light bitterness. Flavor the same with a nice blend. A solid beer but could be better balanced. johnnnniee (4405) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 22, 2014
Bottle shared by Bruce, thanks for the opportunity!
Solid black color with a smallish tan head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of oaky wood, roasted coffee, milk chocolate and caramel. The flavor is a complex mix of caramel, chocolate, a bit of spice, vanilla, and wood tannins with a hint of earth. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. Nice imperial stout. The rye adds a hint of spice that compliments the creamy sweetness well. hopscotch (11182) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2013
Bottle... Pours black with a mid-sized, beige head. The nose is a mélange of fudge, brownies and roasted rye. Full-bodied and velvety with modest carbonation. The flavor is all about roasty, dark chocolate maltiness. Near perfect balance. Finishes bland with no aftertaste and no flaws. Not a lot of rye flavor, but a rock-solid porter nonetheless. There are wonderful sweet chocolate and coffee flavors, I am getting tiramisu, caramel, and Irish cream liqueur on the plate and in the nose. Pours dark unclear thick blackish in color with a huge creamy darker beige head with a cinnamon hue. The body has a wonderful creaminess at well which develops nicely as it gets warmer.

Pours a nice dark color with a fizzy tan head. Aroma of rye, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is thin of coffee, rye, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin carbonation is below average. Quite drunk while drinking this beer so hard to say if amazing or not but I do enjoy it much so. Advocate_Ames (635) - Steubenville, Ohio, USA - APR 28, 2013
Pours black with a cream brown like foam that just hugs the ring of my glass. The aroma is of malts, chocolate, lite smoke, and lite fruit. The flavor has malts, bitter chocolate, and a touch of rye in the finish. The after taste is pleasant. The X1 is balanced nicely. No ingredient comes off too strong. Overall this was a fine brew, well worth trying. mikem409 (2029) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - FEB 8, 2013

Bottle split with everyone for NYE. Pitch black pour. slight head. Some chocolate notes in the aroma. Taste is rather thin but has some chocolate, roastiness, and just a little bit of heft but not much.
