Bottle via stateline.. Pours a copper color orange.. Decent head that faded quickly. Nose of lemon peels. Taste follows the nose. Nice lemon notes with some grass. But kind of one dimensional.... Thin bodied but not watery. Very drinkable/sessionable. Overall: Enjoyed but probably wouldnt buy it again Butters (4176) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JUL 26, 2012
I really didn’t dig on this one too much. I understand sorachi hops. And I usually like them well enough, but this one just didn’t do it for me. Maybe it was just too onesided. Smelled and tasted like lemongrass, and a clean, but not medicinal tone. Almost like chlorinated water, but not quite. Not sure if that was from the abundance of sorachi hops, or some other ingredient. Fair ipa, but nothing I would seek out again. sloth (2936) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - JUL 23, 2012
Medium sized white head with good retention and fair lacing. Clear, gold colored brew. Perky, spicey hop nose, leafy and bright. Body is lightly medium, crisp with a nice carbonation, lil oily and a bit acidic. Nice dry, grainy malt flavors with some juicy, grassy hop notes. Lemony and a bit earthy, leafy but clean and enjoyable. Dry finish has a nice bite. Juicy, quaffable lil bugger. Bomber from statelineliquors. obguthr (6651) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - JUL 22, 2012
Grass and rice aroma. Crystal clear amber, medium head, good lacing. Light grain, kiwi and lemongrass flavor. Honey finish. Good transitions, very unique. Nice balance for the style. zizzybalubba (1886) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - JUL 17, 2012
22 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA (listed as Sorachi Ace IPA and also has X5 on the label). Pours yellow to nearly orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma is piney at first but quickly fades to more of a tangerine. Pretty good so far. The flavor however is dull with muted floral hop bitterness. What really pisses me off, however, is that the name of this beer as it appears on this site is "Imperial Rice Ale" which is something entirely different from an IPA. Had this beer been named what it really is I probably would have passed. Possibly the last beer from DuClaw I will purchase.

Bottle - under the Sorachi Ace IPA X-5 moniker. Label shows 6% ABV. Amber pour with a short, foamy white head. Aroma is lemony and peppery with soft floral notes and light fruit. Taste amps up the peppery notes, lemon zest, flowery notes, light herbal hops, soft toasted malt, and light woody notes. Body is medium with a moderate, lively, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more peppery hops, lemon zest, herbal hops, dried flowers, soft malt, light wood and toasted grains. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 5, 2012
