[ As Due South UXO American Strong Ale ].
Unclear medium to dark amber orange color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, light grapefruit. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, orange, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
Bottle. Golden-orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, caramel, citrus. Flavour is fruit , malt, caramel,. citrus, pine, grapefruit, peaches. Bitter finish. Nice beer. Art (3217) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 4, 2014
Pours a hazy brownish red with a khaki colored head. Aroma is some alcohol and sweet candied dark fruits. Pretty much no dramatic hops to speak of. Taste starts sweet and ends bitter. Mostly a mess at this point but a worthy cause. hopscotch (11078) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 20, 2014
Draft... Hazy Longhorn-orange pour with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Spicy, peppery, floral and piney notes are the aromatic standouts here. Full-bodied and lightly creamy with jazzy carbonation. The flavor presents a nice interplay of lupulin and malt. Metallic, spicy, resiny bitterness up front, then tea biscuit, cookie dough and toffee work their way into the mix. Finishes crisp and mildly bitter - followed by a lingering malty and lightly sweet aftertaste. Brigadier (3680) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - JUN 30, 2014

A behemoth of a beer, this feels much heavier than its 8% ABV should suggest. Unfortunately it also lacks the oomph that would set it apart from the typical American strong ale. A good effort falls into the middle of the pack by the end. Even so thanks to the Florida trader for sharing an undiscovered local.
Aroma / Appearance - A thick long lasting head rests placidly on the surface of a ruby red base. Warmth and lazy long legs give it some depth. Warm maple syrup, fresh hops, red vines, and caramel mix movie candy with breakfast before a homebrewing session. Dense and chewy it is almost suffocating.
Flavor / Palate - Sharp resin sticks to every surface of the tongue along with caramel, red vines, and oak bark. Over time the creamy mouthfeel finds its way into every nook and cranny of the mouth. A filling profile meets expectations but does not exceed them. What gives it high marks are the things that give most high gravity American beers an edge - more of everything. Ultimately if I had the choice between this and a light lawnmower beer I may go with the latter.
Can to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a slightly hazy burnt orange with off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells like an aged DIPA/barley wine; malty with notes of aged bitter hops. Tastes like it smells with notes of caramel. Nice and smooth on the palate. Not bad. 12oz can, thanks to homer321. Shared with b3shine and friends. Sticker on the can reads 3/14/2014, whatever that means ( I’ve seen these types of stickers before, though, and I assume it’s the date that the beer store received the beer ). Can is slightly over-filled. Totally hazy darker amber orange color. Thin khaki head. Dots and short ropes of lace. Looks solid. Caramel malty sweet taste, light spiciness. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. OK american strong ale. Malty, with some alcohol heat. Not too sweet, some good amount of bitter to balance the sweetness, but there’s some heat to it too. OK malty kind of caramely but more bitter strong ale. pineypower (3325) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - JUN 1, 2014
