COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tropic Punch Ale is a joint effort with nomadic brewer Brian Strumke of Stillwater Artisanal. We brewed this sour ale with lactobacillus and let it ferment with plentiful mango, passion fruit and peach. Sweet!

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is very sweet and juicy, peach, mango, passion fruit, slight tart and slight wheat, mostly just a juice bomb. Appearance is golden, hazy, off white head that disappeared quick. Taste is sour, passion fruit, peach, mango, sugary, some wheat, extremely crushable yet puckering. Mouthfeel is light body, light crisp carbonation, tart fruit punch and slight wheat aftertaste. Overall, I was not expecting this level of sour on the taste based on the aroma, but this beer is quite good.

Bottle from Whole Foods. Cloudy dark yellow with aroma of mango and peach. Tangy fruit taste and mildly sour finish.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/7/2019. Pours moderately hazy deep golden yellow/light orange color with a small dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge juicy peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon, lime, green apple, fruit skin, white wine, wheat, cracker, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, tropical fruit, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with big strength. Taste of huge juicy peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon, lime, green apple, fruit skin, white wine, wheat, cracker, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness and fruit tang on the finish. lingering notes of juicy peach, apricot, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, lemon, lime, green apple, fruit skin, white wine, wheat, cracker, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, tropical fruit, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness and fruit tang. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Medium carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic, and tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is an amazing fruited sour ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, tropical fruit, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly lactic/tangy/drying finish. Perfectly balanced juicy fruits and Lacto complexity; with just enough malts to balance acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.

Pretty good stuff and very much like tropical punch flavors that have been soured but in a good way. It’s not the kind of beer you want to drink a lot of but it’s nice for one period good aroma, nothing special to look at.

Sample during the ’Driveway Beer Inventory Reduction - Help Me Obi Wan’ tasting on 05/19/2017. Cloudy bright yellow-gold color with a medium white head that diminishes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of tropical fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of peach, mango, floral yeast and malt. The finish is moderately sour with a tropical fruit aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle. Maybe just some grain for the malt, but the rest of the aroma is mango, peach and passion fruit. Head is small, fizzy, off-white, with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky light amber. Flavor starts heavily to harshly acidic and sour, then finishes heavily acidic and sour. Palate is light, watery, with a fizzy carbonation and an extremely tart finish. Great fruity smells and super tart feel in this Sour Ale.

Bright cloudy yellow orange. Big juicy funky aroma of passionfruit and pit fruits. Flavor has a bit of acidity and sour funk, but is braced nicely by the sweet tart fruit. Refreshing and tasty.

Man, this beer is exactly what its label says it is. Nose like a big glass o’ Hawaiian Punch, and a taste that explodes with peach and mango on top of a wicked lacto sourness. Mild grainy malts provide the slightest of backbone, but this beer’s all about the fruit, the passionfruit showing up on the finish to create dry but familiar fruit punch fade. Pretty perfect summer beer. Good stuff.

Pours hazy gold into a snifter. Bright white head crackles and quickly recedes to nothing. Mango, passion fruit and peach aromas. Tart with peach skin, mango pith and passion fruit upfront turning to tart grapefruit pith and marshmallow in the medium length finish. Tropical indeed.
