Tastes like a hoppy porter more than a black IPA. Think coffee and earthy hops. BeerSkull (1373) - SWEDEN - JUN 5, 2014
(Bottle). Nice aroma of roasted malt and hops. Taste of hops and roasted a little burnt malt, experiencing it, however, as a bit boring and too sour. Especially the finish has a dull bitterness. Garrold (5265) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 3, 2014
Tap at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. Darkest, clear, ruby red. Thin, sticky, lasting, tan head. Stewed, dark, sweet fruits. Liquorice. Light cocoa. Taste is grapefruit bitter, but with the cocoa element sweetening things up. Lovely, creamy, soft mouthfeel. Piny, bitter finish. Very tasty. Very nice. thewolf (12588) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 30, 2014
Bottle, bought @ Systembolaget, Hyltebruk. Pours deep opaque black with a medium, lovely, creamy beige head. Aroma has lovely fresh citrus hops, light coffee, chocolate, light roasted. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good roasted malts, dark chocolate, fresh hops. Lingering bitterness. Very elegant, fat and soft BIPA. Bottle at the Black (IPA) Friday tasting, from an IP trade with Nisse666 - thanks Thomas, 09/05/14.
Black with a moderate tan covering that thins to spotting/edgework.
Nose is bitter roast, pine, tropicana, dark berry fruits.
Taste comprises light roast, burnt tones, bitter grapefruit, pine, scorched earth.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with semi aggressive hop bitterness.
Decent enough CDA.

Flaske: Sortbrun diset øl med et flot skumhoved. Duft af citrus humle og en smule brændt malt. Heldigvis går den ikke igen i smagen som fungerer overraskende godt for en sort ipa. Meget fin mundfylde og yderst drikbar. jmgreenuk (9443) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - MAY 15, 2014
Bottle from one of the Gothenburg Systembolaget’s. Poured a clear dark brown with a broken light tan head. The aroma is grassy hop. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a grassy spice hop pepper palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. deanso (10127) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - MAY 15, 2014

Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to CDA hound Colin. Hazy dark brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate, light, airy and dry. Very fine carbonation. Mild dark malts. Nice plummy fruits in the mid. Back end is spicy pine hops. Turns a little sweeter before the light finish. Nice one.
Pours a clear, close to black body with a rather small, long-lived, light-brown head that laces the glass well. Strong aroma that has a very good malt/hop balance. Roasted notes, chocolate, coffee, citrus, pine and fruits with some tropicality in the back. Strong flavour of chocolate, bitter coffee, fruits, pine, resin and a sharp, grassy, resinous, heavy bitter, long-lasting finish. Moderate to light sweet initial taste. Medium plus body, dry and smooth texture, moderate carbonation. A good BIPA, but far from the best.
