On tap at Scratch Bar as part of the Weekend of Darkness event 200714. This is a very good black IPA, possibly the best I have had. Dark as night with a mix of hops and malt that combine to make for a great beer. zacgillbanks (5656) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - JUL 31, 2015
Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. A hazy very dark brown-black beer that has a rich citrus fruit and coffee flavour, oak and vanilla notes followed by pine and grapefruit on the finish. Excellent! ekstedt (7013) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 17, 2013
Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Clear deep chestnut, medium beige head. Piney, citric and perfumy hop aroma, some soft coffee roasted notes with hints of salmiak. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with firm bitterness. This is how I want my black ipas.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a modest beige head. Light lacing. Aroma of maple, plum, candy and treacle. Flavour of blackcurrant, brambles, muscavado sugar, liquorice and dark chocolate. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A truly special Black IPA - dark and fruity with something new revealed on every sip. I want to try more from this brewery. _angst_ (5009) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2013
Pours dark wooden brown with a small frothy and creamy blackish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving some sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is malty, fruity, herbal and floral with roasted malts, graham crackers, ammonium chloride, resinous wood, roquefort cheese, pine cones, grapefruit rinds, lemon peal, dark roast coffee, high cocoa content dark chocolate, lemon balm, dill, unripe tropical fruits and hints of chocolate covered cherries and freshly picked black currants. Taste is bitter, tiny salty, herbal, floral and tiny fruity with roasted malts, caramel, licorice fudge, ammonium chloride, fresh oily pine cones, resinous wood, gooseberries, lemon balm, dill, grapefruit, lemon and orange peal, heavy dark roast coffee, pure cocoa powder, chocolate cake, old cheese, pumpernickel bread, unripe mango, pineapple, dried black currants and freshly cut grass. Mouthfeel is soft, round, oily bitter, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter, herbal and floral with roasted malts, resinous wood, pine cones, lemon and orange peal, fresh dark roast coffee, grapefruit juice, gooseberries, lemon balm, freshly cut grass, bitter chocolate, black currant leaves, unripe tropical fruits and hints of dried flowers. Wow! I’m amazed by this simple yet majestic BIPA. For the first time in ages Dugges are impressing me a lot and I’m happy to see them win back my heart after what has seemed like the dark ages filled with mostly witch hunts, scurvy and bland seasonal bitters.
