Theydon_Bois (20143) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2014
Keg at Ölstugena Tullen Lejonet, Göteborg, 21/03/14. Lightly hazed amber orange with reddish hues and topped with a moderate off white covering that clears to nowt. Nose is raspberry, straw, light caramel notes. Taste is tarte berry fruits, tangy raspberry, lemon rind, straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp close, limited puckerings. Ok ’linner but lower down the pecking order of this style for me.

Pours relish amber with a nice red toned off white head. Aroma is malty grainy raspberries fruity as is Flavor. Nicely sour, not overwhelming maybe a bit too little of it in comparison to maltyness/ grains. Falls a bit flat due low carbonation.

Tap at Olstugan Lejonet, Gothenburg. Poured a hazy reddish amber with a round white head. The aroma is big yeast dry red berry fruit. The flavour is medium sour with a watery light citrus palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Nice to taste and I had 40cl of this beer so it was a significant taste but I felt that it was crying out for some food too. We often talk about beer replacing wine for food and this beer is a prime candidate. The palate is nice clean and fresh so maybe it’s ideal with fish? I’d like to try it anyway.

Keg at Ölstugan 1892 Tullen Lejonet, Gothenburg. Cloudy reddish amber, minimal head. Lactic citric nose with a touch of raspberry. Really tart and light, lots of fresh lemon. Puckering sour finish.

Draught @ 3 Små Rum. Pours pinkish golden with a small frothy pinkish white head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sour, tiny malty and tiny fruity with dark bread, butterscotch, raspberry hard candy, fruity yoghurt, hay, leather, dry wood and crackers. Taste is sour, tiny fruity and tiny metallic with crackers, fresh raspberries, lemon juice, unflavoured yoghurt, hay, white grapes, dry wood and hints of butter. Mouthfeel is crisp, tart, tiny mouthpuckering and light bodied. Finish is sour with crackers, raspberries, lemon zest, hay, leather and wood. Interesting attempt and happy to see more of these kinds of beers brewed in Sweden but I’d love this much paler and with a ton more of raspberries.

Re-rate a few days later! Draught @ Ölstugan Tullen courtesy of rlgk. Taste is less metallic and less phenolic overall. Crisper and with a purer raspberry character. Much better taste-wise but my original points on the beer still stands.
