COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Duits & Lauret Stout is a very complex, dark and full-bodied beer. A beer to really take your time for in order to enjoy and experience its rich and complex flavour. An aroma of coffee and dark chocolate can easily be discerned. Roasted accents and a slight bitterness are typical of this beer. The stout combines wonderfully well with oysters or spicy dishes, and certainly with desserts in which chocolate or dried fruits have been used as ingredients.

From Beers of Europe. Subtle flavours of chocolate and coffee, hints of dried fruit. Lacks a big aroma, which I was expecting, but it also lacks an overpowering roast, which I also expected and this is not a bad thing. Don’t get me wrong, the roast character is there, but it lurks subtly in the background and just surfaces around the aftertaste, giving such a good finish. Blackcurrant becomes apparent towards the end, looks perfect, deep black, with a lovely foaming tan head. This is a beer I could drink plenty of - it doesn’t taste anything like 6.5% ABV and is a superb example of the style.

10-07-2017; bottle; at home (bought online at www.drankgigant.nl, Oost-Souburg, The Netherlands). The looks of the beer are good. They are like they should be. The colour of the beer is a nice pitch black on the eye. Strong light reveals a slight brownish glow, but overall it is very dark, to dark to say anything about clarity. On top of the beer some nice slightly offwhite foam is formed. Foam retention is average. The smell is nice, but a bit to mild for a stout. It lacks a bit of strength. Just a bit though. There are some nice aromas of malts present. Malty aromas give nice touches of coffee, dark chocolate, bitter roast, some liquorice and dark caramel. Not bad. Some red fruits are also present. On top of it all, there are some touches of refreshing hops. Not bad, but could have been a bit stronger. The taste of the beer is also nice, but again misses a bit of strengt. There are nice sweet and bitter malt aromas, of chocolate, some coffee, liquorice and red fruits. Hops give some bitters to, but also some refreshing sours. All in all, quite a nice flavour, but a bit to weak. It is in good balance though. The palate of the beer is not bad. Medium body, slightly sticky and medium low carbonation. The finish contains some liquorice and some bitterness. It is not bad, but again a bit mild and even watery. All in all, a nice beer, but a bit week and definitely not the best stout I’ve had so far.

Bottle at EBBC16, deep brown with a thin crema and aromas of caramel and toasted cocoa. Creamy mouthfeel, roasty sweet with faint plum and coffee notes. Delicious.

Donkerbruin / zwart iets lichtdoorlatend. Body is dun...zelfs iets waterig.
