It pours a glorious orange/brown, with a thick lingering head. The aroma of fresh hops is laced with stonefruits and plums. The hops and malt combine on the palate for a smooth tasting pale ale, with a well rounded finish.

500ml from La Vino, Ponsnoby. Bronze/amber with thick head and persistant lace. Clean citris and herbs, very fresh and clean aroma. Bright hops followed by earthy warm malts, great ballance. APA on the hops, EPA malt characters. Lets call it New Zealand Pale Ale. sunevdj (4087) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - MAR 21, 2008
On tap at brewery. Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head and some lacings. Smells of hops and alcohol. Quite bitter with a heavy maltbase. Also strong hops aromas. But a bit too unbalanced towards the malts and caramel. Heavy bodied. Medium to low carbonation. Long and very bitter finish with citric and grape hops aromas. Very robus beer. (On tap) Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some lacework. Fresh aroma of citrusy hops. Medium-bodied with lightly sweet caramel notes before some excellent aroma hops in the finish that has a solid bitterness. More American than English Pale Ale. 300108 beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 21, 2008
Hazey bronze colour with big off white head. Big hop aroma. Honey accent. Well balanced malt and hop flavours, mild tangy mouthfeel.
Cross between an amber ale and an Amercian pale ale.

Tasted 09/01/2008. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits. Brilliant rose-gold with a diminishing lacy light-tan head. Caramel malt, ice cream, fruity nettle-like hops and a mild spice on the nose. Good malty presence in the mouth, with medium carbonation. Caramel malt lends a nice balance to the firm herbal - almost medicinal - hop character. Clean finish, a little short of short. Lingering fruity hop flavour and bitterness. Very nice - just a shade too much nettley hop flavour. Reminds me, a bit, of what Hopsmacker used to be. TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 25, 2007
Bottle, poured a slightly effervescent reddish-copper with a foamy yellowish head. A good juicy malt aroma with spicy hops of orange and cinnemon. A moderate bitterness on the palate, fruity flavours at first, then getting more dry and tangy in a long finish. A well brewed Pale Ale. kempicus (343) - Bakewell, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2007
I’ve been waiting a while to try this one....the ’organic’ bullshit doesn’t fly with me but by all accounts it’s a good beer, pours a lovely reddish sunset gold colour with a dense off white head (that quickly diminishes) intense nose of summer fruits, nectarines and passionfruit which is extremely appetising....doesn’t quite deliver on flavour or body though. Tastes good but there’s something missing....the bitterness isn’t too intense but has an unfortunate slight acrid metallic tang to it. bozoNZ (778) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 8, 2007
500ml bottle ex BrewNZ Awards. Pours a glorious apricot/brown with a touch of haze. Thick lingering full head that you really have to drink through. Nice mature aromas - smells well conditioned with hints of plums and othe stonefruit. Nice rounded malt flavours, full and complex. Nice hops finishing flavour rather than bitterness, soft with a gentle clinging finish. Scored a gold medal & I can see why. Would be nice to see this added to the range full time.
