Bottle. Dark gold body with a medium khaki head. The aroma is obvious grapefruit with some toast. There is also a little bit of toasted almonds. The taste has some light grapefruit and lightly burnt bread crust. As it warms, you get a bad soap note in the nose and taste. The body is fairly highly carbonated and I found it irratating. A lightly toasted finish with some cardboard. A bland, almost amber ale, mass produced IPA. This reminds me of poorly made homebrew. lemasney (398) - Trenton, New Jersey, USA - MAR 18, 2008

Hoppiness or Bitterness level is:medium
Sour level is: light
Body or Mouthfeel is: medium
Texture is: creamy, thick, papery, fuzzy
Carbonation is: lively
Finish is: sweet and long, with some bitterness.
Overall experience: A surprisingly good beer from JWD - I attribute this to my love for IPAs, but it has some hops, some citrus, and some long lasting, creamy texture. Good stuff. Not great but very preferable to the nonsense big brewers. WISEGUY572 (1377) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 15, 2008
UPDATED: AUG 21, 2008 I had limited expectations but still found this disappointing. Reddish amber, small white head. A little malt, a little hops, very little intensity in nose or taste. Just not very interesting for the style // Rerated in August 2008. Slightly better than I remembered.. tgncc (3135) - Bellmore, New York, USA - MAR 15, 2008
Decent IPA. The aroma is hoppy of course, but citrusy hoppy. The appearance is a coppery color typical to the style. the flavor a a decent hop bite, with the grapefruit flavor in the background. The palate has a lasting hop sting, also partly due to the beer’s carbonation. Not a bad IPA, certainly not the best. Borrrris (110) - LINDENHURST, New York, USA - MAR 14, 2008
Bottle: Sampler Pack 2008. No expert on this- but not what I was expecting in a beer labelled an IPA. Very similar to their Pale Ale with a tad more (inappropriately?) citrussy character, but still not much of a finish. At least it tastes likes something- unlike some other beers in it’s price class

Sample box split with BMan1113VR. Orange color with no head. Minimal lacing. Piney, soapy, woody, and hoppy aroma. Tatse is strange and fruity with a metalic finish and a salty mouthfeel. Just sub par. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 6, 2008
Tasted with ilovedarkbeer. Aroma is piney with some soap. Az small, off-white head, a touch of lacing with a dark orange body. Taste isn’t that interesting. Mouthfeel is metallic with a watery, fizzy feel. whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 29, 2008
Thanks jetzler. Poured a big foamy, receding white head with a warm golden body. Grapey, sweet tea aroma with very subdued hop fragrance. More sweet tea-like English malt and malt syrup flavors plus some notable herbal bitterness with some grainy astringency in the finish. Very little hop character, aside from the bitterness. Not really in the true spirit of the style—more just a marketing ploy, me thinks.

33 cl bottle, Fargo. Deep golden colour, promising hop aroma. Crisply carbonated, less body than desired. Okay for the price, better options exist however. ilherps (248) - Carbondale, Illinois, USA - FEB 23, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2008 From a 12 oz bottle as part of a craft beer variety pack. Pours clear amber with just small amount of foam around the outside of the glass. I get an aroma of spice and citrus hops, with a slight hint of fresh coffee beans. The coffee doesn’t translate over in flavor, instead a warm citrus flavor with hops on the finish. It’s highly carbonated with almost a burning sensation on the tongue. This is a pretty good beer, although the strength of the flavor is nowhere near many other IPAs on the market.
