COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed using the Yorkshire square system of fermentation, the nut brown ale calls the North of England home. A hint of hazelnut, a dash of rich caramel and a sprinkle of chocolate malt all intertwine with the flowery bouquet of Willamette hops to produce a round-bodied ale worthy of its homeland. Take a leaf out of our buddy Cyril the red squirrels book, and enjoy a Dundee Nut Brown Ale in your own drey. (Drey = a squirrels nest. See, you learned something too.)

Bottle. Pours a clear light brown body under a fizzy of-white head that had pretty decent retention. The nose is a little too husky and grainy but theres some decent light nuttiness and light coffee as well. The flavor is a bit thin with a little too much huskiness as well. A little bit of chocolate and nuttiness, but the huskiness overpowers it too much. Finishes with a grainy note and some lingering caramel sweetness. The body is thin as well with a bit of clinginess on the finish. Not exactly a wonderful example of the style.

This beer is an auburn color with a prominent white head, and the aroma is nutty with a hint of caramel alongside the yeast undertones. The taste is mildly umami and mildly sweet, and the palate of the beer combines a light-medium body, a thin texture, soft carbonation, and an abrupt finish.

Poured into one of my Newcastle Geordie Schooner glasses. Mahogany brown color with a generoud tan head. Aroma is hazelnut and some earthy malt. Flavor is a bit one dimensional, but nutty with a nice level of hazelnut character. Many hazelnut browns seem to overwhelm with the hazelnut flavor, but this strikes a nice balance. Fairly smooth mouthfeel with a slightly dry finish. I rarely see any Dundee beer in my area, so I probably wont be drinking it again, but its a decent run-of-the-mill brown.

The appearance had a medium dark brown body with a somewhat off-white frothy head with some slight lacing that slides down the glass as it goes. The smell has a sweet nutty malt with some caramel, subdued in a weird sort. The taste has a slight coffee bitterness followed by some light maltiness. The palate is light and has a fair amount of carbonation in the body. Overall, this is just a decent beer that I would have again, but would rather have it on tap if offered.

12 oz. bottle. Nice brown color with a medium, tan, rocky head and lots of lacing. Big peanut and caramel notes, with some light chocolate and chili notes. Nice savory and sweet flavors, with very light bitterness. Light to medium body, syrupy, and slick. Overall, this is a simple, but tasty beer.

This Nut Brown by Dundee is definitely what I would call delicious. Has a nice full flavor, and good for any cold evening.

12 oz bottle in a pint glass. Very clear brown. Starts with a decent tan head, but this retreats rapidly, leaving little more than a ring but good lacing on the glass. Mouthfeel: well-chosen carbonation. Medium-thin body. Beyond crisp, this one is a bit harsh and acidic feeling. Nice, unusually dry (for style and ABV) finish. Aroma: mild: toasted malt; nutty and lightly spicy. Taste: a tad light for style; no serious flaws; nice dry nutty finish, perhaps reflecting the "natural hazelnut flavors". O - Not a typical brown ale, but overall an average quality brown ale. Very good value as part of Dundee craftpack.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2013 Smells much like chocolate, Molasses and hops. Beautiful dark brown in color. Same color as rootbeer. Hence the caramel. Has a great flavor with no bitter aftertaste. Fairly mild and not overpowering. Doesnt maintain a head for long. Overall, I really did like it. But I favor brown ales.

Comes out of the bottle a clear, bubbly chestnut with a fairly thick and fluffy pale wheat head. Malty aroma is not strong but has nice caramel and nutty hints. Satisfying, if not outstanding, flavor has a malty core and hints of hazelnut (no surprise) and caramel. Texture is about average in the fizz and fullness departments. If no great shakes, still tasty and enjoyable.
