22oz bottle from a trade. Pours dark brown/black with a medium beige head. Nose is roast, chocolate, licorice, coffee. Flavor follows, heavy on the malt and roast. Medium mouthfeel. Average.
2012 edition. Black as night. Malty so very drinkable, but slightly less body than a normal IS. A tad sour, is that intentional? djd07 (14355) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 6, 2015
Bottle during RBWG. Pours a dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is toasted malts and coffee. Medium mouth with light roast, cocoa, and dark chocolate, boozy finish, good. Ibrew2or3 (8607) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - FEB 25, 2015
10.5% AVB version poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a deep dark body that has dark mahogany edges and supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate, chocolate malt balls and then a thin layer of yum. The taste starts bold with firm dark roasted malts to burnt and coffee and then it quickly slides into pleasing chocolate goodness and a thin sweet molasses sensation. Yum. To midway in the background lurks faint blueberry like sweet dark fruity esters that harken back to old school Russian Imperial Stouts, nice. Solid beast of a beer that makes for a terrific sipper. 3oz on tap at the brewpub. Labeled 10.5%. Geez, what’s the deal with these beer names? Like the rest of the experience at Dunedin, they’re quirky, but kind of charming. Not crazy about this particular stout though. Up front, a lot of dark fruit, mild herbal, licorice. Not flavors I like in an imp. stout. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Mild bite on the end. Medium body. Kind of soft lighter carbonation. Light dry finish. Nearly totally black color, ring of tan head, some loose bits of lace. Not a great example of the style. Pours a dark brown with khaki colored head from the tap at the brewery. Aroma is faint, but flavor is of licorice an dark chocolate. Good beer.

Pours a dark brown and opaque with a thin caramelized colored head. Strawberry taffy, roasted malt, and cream on the nose. Thick mouthfeel. Strawberry milk flavor. Some cream comes through as well. Very peculiar flavor, but quite good. beechner224 (1024) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - FEB 16, 2014
Bottle at brewery. Pours pitch black with minimal head. Aroma is mild, chocolate, coffee. Taste is rich, chocolate, thick. Pretty tasty. Don’t understand other reviews about brown color, mine is imperial stout. gnoff (10224) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - JAN 21, 2014
Sampled draught as part of a flight at the brewpub on January 19, 2014.hopscotch (11043) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 15, 2013
Black color, some tiny clear red notes in the bottom towards the table. Very small teal head. Sweet, malty, roasted, very nice intoxicating taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Sweet, malty, roasted scent.
Growler... Pours black with a small, creamy, khaki head. The aroma furnishes notes of milk chocolate, graham and toasted nuts. Full-bodied and fatty with soft carbonation. The flavor provides bittersweet dark chocolate and a nutty, chocolaty finish. Growler courtesy of markwise!
