COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional dry Irish stout, full flavoured yet smooth. Roasted barley flavours are nicely complemented by notes of vanilla and aniseed. Enjoy with robust meat dishes or on it’s own off the shelf. Contains a yeast sediment, store upright and pour carefully. Best served at room temperature.

Booties (2) - IRELAND - MAY 23, 2013 does not count
Bottle from the brewery - Pours black with a tan head. Roasty/chocolate aroma with hints of smoke. Complex flavor with a mixture of coffee, chocolate and hop bitterness with a slightly smoky finish. Light body, great mouthfeel. Equally good as a partner with food, a session beer or a drink by the fireplace. As close to dry stout perfection as you can get

500ml bottle, brought back from Ireland by my wife. Poured into a shaker, appearance is jet black with a nice 2cm head that lasted about half the glass. Nice delicate lacing on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla and coffee, nice and roasty. Malty, with a mild, understated bitterness. Medium carbonation, with a slick oily mouthfeel. A very, very good stout, possibly my new favourite in this style.

I dont know what I was expecting, but this exceeded anything I had in mind. Color was oil black with an off white to tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasty malty, caramel, butter, a slight hop nose. Palate is perfect, went down so smooth like a milk or lacto stout. creamy barley, almost oaty. delicious

Black Rock Stout pours pitch black with a creamy, thick beige head. The head persists and also leaves behind a coating on the sides of the glass. The aroma of coffee and roasted malt come with a touch smoke. The flavor brings to mind coffee, roasted malt and cocoa. There’s a hint of sweetness and black licorice in the background. The finish is dry with the taste of roasted coffee lingering behind. A thick and creamy mouthfeel completes the picture.

Dungarvan brewery is proof of the genuine improvement in Irish brewing. Things are getting better. Big aroma for its style, roasted notes, especially chocolate, and a biscuity quality. The flavour is dry (as it should be) with chocolate and coffee, a trace of vanilla and a gentle tartness. A very decent beer

Light red tinge to the dark brown body. Oaty, chocolatey aroma is appetizing. Soft, slightly smokey body with luscious, rich milk chocolate character and a hint of roast late.

On cask at Bull & Castle. Appearance: pitch black, thick brown head. Aroma: Coffee, leather, dark chocolate and yeast. Flavour: quite mild coffee, bran, a little dark chocolate, roast chestnut, tea with a long bitter finish. Enjoyable and a joy to have on cask.
