Bottle at Courtney’s in Killarney. The beer is a slighly hazy reddish-copper color with a medium thin and foamy off-white head that burns away quickly. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of grain and caramel. Light-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, slight hops and a bit of cardboard. The finish is semi-sweet with a short earthy malt aftertaste. Barely average overall.

Cask, The Whiffler, Norwich, 01/09/15. Loose foamed and eponymous. Ripe eggy wafts, dark varnished wood. Stillness, booze, walnut, drain-like minerality. Vapid finish. Biscuit crumbs. Bland, even after a week on pissy lager and Hopleaf.

Bottle [500ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o garthicus. Pours a murky copper with an average size diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of grain, fruit and a bit of sourness -- not great. Watery flavour of caramel malt and yeast along with some fruit and a short light bitter finish. Average bodied. Most Red Ales and Irish Ales are quite dull and this is no exception.
