pours hazy dark brown, burnt orange, with a very nice light beige head, nice lacing. charred chocolate matliness, red grapes, leather and wood - bitter and tannic, burnt raisins on toast, woodsy melons - nice fruitiness, rye spiciness, sweetish pine and spruce gum, molasses, hint of tartness - touch of extraneous bacterial flora. average carbonation - slightly foamy; medium body, bitter and tannic woody-spicy-piney finish. not really pinot noir-oriented but a fairly present and well-integrated vinous character. much enjoyed! Bottle thanks to Luk. Black pour with thick tan foam. Aroma is roasty, winey leathery malty notes, wood, brett, earth, burnt toast, grassy hoppiness. Une mousse blanchâtre plutôt onctueuse se colle à une bière noire et opaque. Les houblons fruités se combinent aux notes vineuses assez puissantes, le tout étant appuyé par une torréfaction bien sentie. Bottle. Pours a dark Brown-black with a thick beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, piny hops, light grape and cherry notes. The pinot noir barrels is much more present in the taste adding a nice acidity along with the roasted bitterness and chocolate sweetness. Palate is a little light and carbonation is rather low. Bottle from the brewery. Cloudy dark brown with a large creamy head that fades slowly and leaves some lace. Nose is chocolate, coffee and vanilla hints over a light pine resin. medium light sweet roasty chocolate start moving to a moderate bitter middle and end. Background has some vanilla, floral notes and a fruitiness with only the faintest hint of wood. Medium creamy mouth with soft carbonation. Quite nice but not sure how it compares with the regular Black.

Appearance: Dark brown with a huge creamy beige head and some lacing.
Aroma: Quite chocolate forward with light resinous presence, perfume notes and moderate fruitiness.
Taste: Roasty, chocolate forward again with moderate fruitiness, perfume notes and moderate bitterness.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Fruity and roasty finish.
Overall: It’s very good, but the barrel-treatment is subtle and it doesn’t enhance the base beer that much. I think this one might be a bit fruitier and a tad less hoppy. Enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours black with a large foamy tan head. Aroma brings out a great balance of roasted malt and red wine barrels - a touch of hops as well. Flavour is very similar, bringing out notes of roasted malt, piney hops and accentuates beautifully by red wine barrels. Not usually a fan of barrel aging IPAs, but I can’t imagine this being done more appropriately. The vinous woody notes bring out the roasted notes from the black IPA very well. Une bouteille de 341ml. Une boire noire avec une mousse intense. Un nez de vin rouge pas nécessairement du Pinot Noir, du chocolat et des houblons. Une bouche vineuse légèrement acide, avec du chocolat. Une finale sur les houblons. Le boisé n’est pas trop présent et donne ce côté vineux. Correct. Maybe because I had this in blind test, and thought it less than an average black IPA, I did not appreciate it to the fullest. Interesting but not very tasty.
