Many thanks to cfrancis for this bottle!! Dark in the glass with a nice big beige head. The nose is very hoppy-floral intense, hints of roasted malt together with a nice sweetish smooth floralness. Great! The beer starts intense, very deep and viscous. Roasted malt, floral hops, nice bitterness. Quite dry, not really sweetish, but intense! The aftertaste is nice and roasty, viscous, floral-fresh and nice bitter!
A very great brew! Absolutely great!

Pours darker than Louis CK’s sense of humour - seriously, it is JET black. On the initial pour, the nose is a pure hop bomb: pungent citrus, pine and fresh flowers. Thereafter the hops remain in the background, but at the forefront are heavy cocoa and coffee notes, a bit of dark toffee, and something else I can’t place. Mouthfeel is lighter than I expected, but with a good mix of the malt aromas listed above. There’s a tiny bit of an empty, watery patch in the middle, before the bitter coffee/pine finish kicks in, but there’s still a ton of malt character here. Finish is a nice dry creeper, too. Really nice.

Pours dark and black with a tan head. has citrussy hop nose with a malty background. Has some earthy character and some nice piney notes. Big hop character and big malty goodness. Has a nice balance of roasty chololate malt and hops. Hops are typical C style lemony citrussy hops. has a nice clean finish and no earthiness at all. Overall a big Cascadian with everything one should have, strangely made in Quebec!

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2016 Bottle. Black pour with a large tan head, lots of retention. Aroma is cocoa and coffee with a stiff hoppy bitterness coming through. Taste is quite bitter, both roasty and hoppy, dark chocolate and dark roast coffee as well as some hop bitterness in the finish. A creamy smoothness as well, medium-light body, bitter but tasty finish.

Black in colour with ruby edges, very large and long lasting beige head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of roasted malts, citrus and grassy hops, some sweetness. The flavour is of roasted malts, some piney hops, a bit of coffee, some chocolate, lots of grains. Lightly sweet mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long, roasty. A very good beer, love how the hops are balanced with just a bit of malt.

Beer 24 of advent calendar. From the bottle. Pours very dark brown. Giant head, way to foamy. Smells of sour, roasted malts and bitter chocolate. Taste is malt, chocolate and a little hop bitter at the end. More like a bitter stout. Not bad, the bitterness helps balance out the stout so it is not as sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Glass shared with northropfrye. These Dunham beers are great. Coffee, dark, bitterness.

northropfrye (3732) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 3, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 4, 2017 Lots of thick lasting brown foam, black body. Aroma of pine, herbal grassy notes. Taste is semi-bitter, but could be a bit more pronounced although there is a dry very bitter medicinal aftertaste. Some roast. Nice beer.
