2013-10-19. Murky pastel orange body with a frothy white head. Aroma is hoppy, very pithy grapefruit and lemon peel notes. Flavour is relatively bitter throughout, pithy grapefruit, sweet generic fruit undertones. Average bodied palate, soft to low carbonation. Decent but I think not particularly well served by the cask presentation. Session 1, Cask Days 2013, Toronto

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2013 My Bottom Line:
A jungle full of fruit showcases plantanes, starfruit and various incarnations of citrus before yielding resinous and grassy bitterness for a tantalizing IPA experience.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam tops the cloudy straw blond.
-Oh my, that is one fantastic hop aroma! Of course, the keg was 1-day old, and since freshness is a huge issue with IPAs, this one could not have been tasted at a better time.
-This tastes like a cousin of Heady Topper. Brilliant stuff!
-The mouthfeel is very comfortable and conducive to big gulps despite the intensity of the flavors.

On tap at the brewery taproom.

Fresh and delicious. The nose us fruity and fresh. A bit of pepper and sweet juice. Pine snd pepper. Quite a bit of spice and fruit. Lovely fruitiness - a fine IPA.

[5926-20131019] Cask. Orange pulp and bitter grains aroma. Hazy, pale orange body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Bitter leafy hops flavour. Medium body. Tasty. (7/3/7/4/15) 3.6

on tap at bateau de nuit, qc. cloudy and glowing pale yellow pour with a small creamy white head, good retention and lacing. citrus load, soft and sweet pine needles, fresh grass and pepper, crisp and lightly sweetish and honeyish pale malts, some pale fruitiness and spiciness. there’s almost some funk in there in the abusive use of galaxy.. average carbonation - just the right amount, relatively dry mouthfeel although attenuation could be slightly improved, light to medium body, very nice citrusy-grapefruity finish, although double galaxy adds a sight harshness in the finish. definitely sessionable, loved it - a second, almost expensive glass, does not happen often.. wishing them all the luck for ipa challenge in toronto although i’m convinced that they will have at least some special mentions..!

(Rating #4986)

September 20, 2013 - on draught at Bistro l’Autre Oeil (Gatineau). Hazy pale gold with a decent average white head with pretty amazing lacing. Terrific aroma - pungent, catty, light fruit - "C" greatness. Taste follows, a bit of honey and perhaps some noble hop character in addition to the west coast resin bitterness - still quite pungent, definite alcohol presence but nicely balanced. Average body, a bit of astringency, lively mouthfeel, long bitter finish, begins to coat the back of the palate with some grapefruit pith - great stuff, a solid "4"

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2013 On tap @ L’Hermite (Victoriaville). Hazy straw color with a small creamy white head and good lacing. Aroma is intensely hoppy with loads of tropical fruits and citrus along with piney notes, underlying malt and slight spices. Taste is slightly sweet with loads of tropical fruits and citrus again, pine, malt/caramel, some spiciness and a slight bitter finish. Medium body. Slightly creamy. Dry. Clean palate. Good carbonation. Really good take on a West Coast IPA from a Québec brewery. Extremely thirst quenching and refreshing. Intensely hoppy and not too bitter. Loved it. Bottle (341 ml). As Cinq Up - 5th Anniversary Beer of Bières & Saveurs (Victoriaville). Slightly hazy pale golden with a huge frothy white/off-white head and intense lacing. Aroma of citrus, pine, passionfruit and earthy notes. Taste is moderately bitter with pine, citrus, herbal notes and earthy presence. Medium body. Dry. Moderate carbonation. Good IPA! Refreshing! Long live to Bières & Saveurs!

In short: An aromatic and very flavourful blond IPA hop-bomb, excellent modern IPA example.
How: Tap at Brouhaha, Montreal.
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a small white head.
In long: Nose is highly aromatic with plenty of fresh tropical fruits and the likes. Taste has a very chewy-doughy pale malts backbone, really like eating a freshly baked baguette. An gigantinormous hops presence, tropical fruits, bitter white grapefruits, banana peels, more... Medium bitterness level, very flavourful but never aggressive. Very full body that feels nourishing but never heavy. Lots of soft bubbles, cushiony mouthfeel. This could pass as a Hill Farmstead IPA which is the new measuring stick in IPA excellence. Without a doubt one of the best IPA ever brewed in Quebec. I loved that beer, also I give high scores to Canadian beers because I rate in the metric system.

On tap at Le Bateau de nuit. Hazy pale gold pour, thin white head with lots of white head. Aroma is really good, resinous, lots of grapefruit peel, really tropical, pineapple, pretty dank, definitely heavily hopped. Taste is all you can expect from dunham, clean light malt profile, hop flavor is bomb, if anything it’s a tad too bitter. Very good west coast IIPA.
