Cask at Vices et Versa, Montreal - 03/03/12. Dark black with a decent beige head. Floral hops on the nose, some herb/spice. Hop forward in flavour with a roasted malt backbone with a little pepper/chocolate in the mix. Medium bodied, little carbonation, well balanced with a moderate to dry finish. Good stuff!

Une soupe riche chocolate qui, soudainement assche par des houblons herbacs, se mtamorphose en ipa toffe et assez facile boire.

On tap at Barley Brothers, Winnipeg. Black pour with a nice brown head, good retention. Tried immediately after Dunham's regular black IPA. Somehow less hop character here, but some nice roasty cocoa notes come out. Full-bodied, slightly boozy and very creamy smooth. Some coffee and vanilla notes in the flavour. I quite liked this - tastes more like a hoppy imperial stout. Which I love.

341ml bottle. Black in colour with a large and lingering tan head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of roasted malt, dark chocolate, citrus hops, some espresso. The flavour is of citrus hops, chocolate malts, piney hops. Intensely bitter mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long and quite bitter. These Black IPAs always catch me off guard but there is something about a hoppy porter that I really enjoy.
