A special Red IPA, generously hoppped and furiously dry-hopped! Served trough nitrogen. IPA rougeâtre spécialement houblonnée, puis généreusement houblonnée à froid. Service à l’azote.

On tap at bateau de nuit. Pretty gold pour with slowly rising creamy white head. Good piney aroma, very light citrus. Light caramel flavor, really piney, strong bitterness, nitro really lets the bitterness sit on the tongue. Palate is flat, med bodied. Pretty good, a tad over-bittered.

On tap at l’Hermite (Victoriaville). Hazy amber with a huge thick and creamy beige head, good retention, along with heavy lacing. Aroma is smooth with piney notes, tropical fruits and hops. Taste is slightly sweet and moderately bitter with pine, tropical fruits and slight caramel/malt. Creamy/fluffy mouthfeel. Somewhat dry. Very nice hybrid between IPA and Cream Ale. Refreshing aplenty.

(Rating #4465)

A hazed amber ale with a super thick lacing light mocha head. In aroma, a nice pungent hops, grassy and resinous, with biscuit malt. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with good floral hops, pine and smooth, silky mouthfeel, well done. On tap at Vices et Versa, Nov. 3 2012.

On tap at Vice et Versa, pours a hazy orangey amber with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of citrus and orange rinds, tropical fruity hops, some fungal qualities, and what seems to be a thick caramel malt backbone – seems more of an IPA (English style) than cream ale on the nose. Flavour definitely shows the hybrid style more so, with lots of creamsicle upfront, followed by some tropical fruity hops, ending with a significant pleasant astringency from the hops. Creamy, soft palate. Very well-constructed and highly drinkable.

My Bottom Line :
Citrusy and floral hops thrive in this nitrogenated IPA, before light caramel malt are able to pierce the puffy mouthfeel created by the gas.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy head of foam covers the russet haze.
-The aroma could have been more engaging. Put their APA’s nose on this one and you’ve got a winner.
-There is a subtle emptiness in the flavor profile before the resinous hop bitterness appears.
-The nitrogen content of this brew might be too high to let the malts and hops express themselves efficiently.

On tap at Vices et Versa.

On tap at St. Bock. Hazy amber with good-sized lasting creamy eggshell head. Aroma is caramel, grains and citrusy hops. Flavour has grapefruit/piney hops, caramel malt and a distinct graininess. Creamy mouthfeel. Interesting stylistic hybrid.
