3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
341ml bottle poured into stem glass. Pours a very deep black with a tiny head which quickly fades to good-sized ring. Aroma ivery roasty and coffee-like with some black chocolate notes. Taste is light-medium bitter from the roastyness. Body is medium with a thin-slick texture. Carbonation is very soft. Finish is slightly astringent with some slight bitterness, but of course nothing compared to their black IPA. Overall, a good robust porter, but I’ve had better. I’m thinking about Hill Farmstead’s Everett here but I guess the comparison isn’t very fair. Pretty enjoyable but it doesn’t stand out that much.
Dark brown pour with a medium-height coarse-grained tan head. Very hoppy right from the start, feels a bit more like a black IPA than a porter. Nice roasted malts, pine resin, citrus, dark chocolate, dark roasted coffee, dark fruit, cherries, lactose, a bit of soft cheese. Really liking it, high carbonated, medium body, roasty and hoppy finish. Well done! 90 (803) - BELGIUM - JUL 31, 2017
Nice bitter aroma. Bitter in taste. Too much carbonation (?). Tad hazelnut. Roasted. Slightly bitter. Mouthfeel is lots of carbo. Crit (4057) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 16, 2017

On tap at St Augustine’s in Vancouver. A black beer with bit of tan head and a faint and indistinct nose. Here we go. Hmm..a definite citrus hop note up front. Unusual for a porter. Creamy with rich cocoa notes, coffee notes. Basically a hoppy porter. Well, Top 50 for the style notwithstanding, this here ain’t my kinda porter. 3.6 maupie (1103) - Roosendaal, NETHERLANDS - JUN 8, 2017

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a giant foamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, coffee notes, dark chocolate, hazelnut, a touch of ash. Complex. Oakes (18794) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 14, 2017
Dark brown. Very big chocolate nose, lots of nice sugars, great balance...you need the brown sugars to pull those chocolate notes through. Very food porter...no thin crap. fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 28, 2017

Black color, compact brownish head. Wonderful aroma of boutique coffee, hot chocolate, cappuccino. Dry and smooth, with strong roasted malt character, coffee, and no room for much else. Ashy in the final.
Too roasty for me, but very nicely made.
Pours a deeeeep dark color with a beautiful foam. Notes of of caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. Some hoppy flavors too. Rich yet not too heavy. The bitterness is there but not overpowering.
