Apparence : Noire visqueuse au versement, lger col brun qui sestompe assez rapidement, carbonatation qui mapparat faible.
Nez : Caramel et caf bien francs, lger alcool. Nez dune bonne intensit qui me semble sucr.
Got : Malt grill qui saffirme davantage quau nez, caramel et caf prsents, amertume du malt en finale. quilibre entre le malt sucr, le caf et lamertume.
Sensation : Effervescence leve, corps moyen, bonne longueur.
Bref : Par o commencer?

Draught at Darbys Gastown, Vancouver
Black color with brown head. Nice coffee aroma, mild. Moderately sweet, good coffee flavor, but compared to the Costa Rica this one has a richer chocolate flavor.

On tap at Darbys. Pours an almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is roasted malt and some coffee notes. Taste is oily, dark fruits, quite hoppy, roasted malt. Roasted malt and hoppy bitterness aftertaste. When it is cold coffee presence is minimal and it reminds more Imperial Black IPA, than Imperial Stout with coffee. To find a coffee the beer should be around 15C.

On tap at Darbys Gastown, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a nicely earthy espresso, with medium roasted malt. Flavour brings out a very fruity coffee character, with light-medium roast. Slightly less roasty than the Costa Rican version. Excellent.

Bottle (750 ml) at home. Split 2-ways. Pitch black with a medium creamy beige head, good retention, leaving some lacing. Aroma is fudgey and freshly torrefied coffee with dark chocolate, rich caramel, roasted malts and mild almondy notes. Taste is also fudge and coffee forward with plenty of roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel, moderate fruitiness, mild ashes notes and moderate coffee bitterness. Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. Creamy/fluffy mouthfeel. Coffee and fudge finish. Maybe a tiny bit better that the Costa Rica version but both are world-class coffee RIS with a rich and flavorful profile featuring high quality coffee. What is nice with these RIS is that they are never heavy or boozy while being extremely tasty. Great!

Pours pitch black with thick brown foam. The aroma is remnant of dark chocolate and just a little nudge of torrefaction. Tastes great! Good bitterness, presence of coffee that is not too overwhelming. The mouthfeel is extra thick. Love it!

In the style of the special DDC Peche coffees. Fine coffee beer, if a tad thin. Little carbonation. Thanks for sharing Brian.

Bottle from Halles de St-Jean shared with Seb and Jf A: intense coffee, dark chocolate, roasty. App: pitch black sparing beige head some lacing. T/p: full body with moderate long bitter finish. Soft carbonation. O: Wow, this is really good I should have kept it for me all alone. Really enjoyed the really nice coffiness on this. Mouthfeel is impeccable.
