This is not a traditional “dark” beer, because its not heavy and you can drink more than one without feeling full. Hopped with Nugget, Cascade, and Mt. Hood Hops.

Relatively cloudy for an ADL, the aroma is toffee, nutty malts and caramel sweetness. The flavor is toffee, medium sweet malts, caramel, low bitterness and a smooth finish.

12 oz. bottle received in a trade with arminjewell. This beer is very dark brown and has a beige head of one finger. Some earthy grain is in the nose and those are also tasted. Molasses notes. A creamy feel is nice. Just a hint of toasted and roasted notes. Hops are almost non-existent but they do a dash of fruit. Chocolate grows to the finish. Easy to drink because it is so sweet but not a great beer.

12 ounce bottle. Pours brown with a decent biege head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, and caramel. Taste is malt, molasses, chocolate, grain, and a touch of hops. OK.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Toasty, dark chocolate, toffee, caramel malty aroma. Somewhat creamy. Dark caramel, toffee chocolate flavor. Easy drinking brew.

On tap during 2011 Craft Lager Fest. Clear dark copperish brown with a pretty decent off khaki head. Aroma of sweet toffee, and brown malts, a little biscuit as well. Taste was clean and sweet. Sweet, toffee malts, light cocoa, and just a little burnt toast. Pretty good, just lacking some ’wow’ factor.

picked up a bottle at wagon wheel 7/17/10. pale porter color with an off white head. it smells of caramel, wort, chocolate, roast, cream and a touch of citrus. it tastes the same only with a fruitiness added akin to plums and some spiciness from the hops. the body is a bit thin but really easy to quaff. it gets creamy and rich when consumed directly from the bottle. 7/3/7/3/14/3.4

12oz bottle from the Minnows BIF. Pours dark cola brown with a white head. Nose is some toasted malts, yeast, earth, herbs, and tobacco. Flavor is similar with tobacco and earth in background, and sweetness and yeast in front and back; molasses hang around, too. Medium-bodied and interesting.

A pretty standard dark lager with plenty of roasted malts. Pretty thin and not terribly hoppy.

Brown pour, off white head. Aroma has some coffee, roasted malt, light chocolate. Flavor has a good coffee, smokey and roasted note to it. Better than I thought, but still not amazing.

Beaver (1828) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours a ruby brown with a medium frothy off white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet grainy, worty malts with some chocolate.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malts and grains, nuts and a bit of an acidic slightly sour twang. The mouthfeel is light bodied and a little watery.

Overall, lots of raw grainy off notes. Not too good.
