COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned; has sometimes been available in the cask.
This barley wine is golden in colour with a luscious malty body. A complex blend of hops give an interesting depth and balancing bitterness. The finish lingers with a rich warmth. Something very special. Smooth deep malt blends with bright hop flavours. A hint of pear drops come from higher alcohols.

Bottle. Dark amber looks like dark apple juice. Aroma is a bit wine-like with notes of fermented fruit. First sip says Maibock. A bit dusty. Body is still. Spice starts to show up on the third or fourth sip but does not build very high; some lighnt hops, finishing pepper and hints of dark spice dot the palate and strong tangerine. Although there is some citrus emerging in the bottom half of the bottle. Short aftertaste makes you forget you are dinking it but each sip reawakens the palate. Subtle.

Bottle 500ml. Exceptional beer. Aromas of roasted caramel, orange, and bread. Taste is sweet, with a touch of acidity, and bitter notes. Palate is creamy, and full bodied. Brown, with a thick, frothy white head.

Bottle shared with esp0r at Tre Sm Rum. Hazy amber to gold color, tiny white head. Aroma of honey, malt and some hops. Honey is also appearant in taste, with a mild hop finish. Perhaps a bit too carbonated, but not a bad beer

0,5 l bottle as a gift.
Allury appearance with a hazy amber reddish-orange-coppery body, superb creamy, stable and foamy off white head. Complex aroma that opens if the beer gets warmed. Spicies in the nose like coriander, vanilla and orange peel, herbal hops. Candy sugar with some interesting yeasts, fruits like peach, grapefruit. Oily density, creamy mouthfeel, caramel brings the powerful citrussy hop flavors, spicies like cinnamon, vanilla and honey, coriander again. Orange peel, fine dried fruits and herbs with malt in the long aftertaste. Well hidden alcohol that warms me up. Fine, fine!

Kiss spadt s homlyosan gomolyg, vrsrz sznű ital. Habja srgsfehr, igen termetes s rendkvl krmes.

Mmmm... marmalade... Thick, alcoholic marmalade. This is incredibly moreish for an 8.4% abv beer and should be banned by the British government before national productivity completely collapses. Id spread it on toast for breakfast and then do fuck all all day. Cant say I didnt give fair warning. Released from the bottle and spread on toast, Benedictus was peachy gold with brown crumbs and minimal head. The texture was chewy. The aroma was toasty and very Belgian. In a blind toasting, I would have said this was a tripel, rather than a barley wine. Very yeasty, with oodles of Seville orange and lychee. This one holds its booze better than the same brewers Temptation, which is easier to resist than the name suggests. This is incredibly easy drinking for the strength, so I quit my job to have more time to do exactly that. In the mouth, Seville oranges front a supporting cast of mangos and Juicy Fruit chewing gum. Moderate bitterness and a quenching finish. An atypical barley wine but streets ahead of Robertsons Golden Shred. (500ml bottle from Platinum Cellars. BB Feb 2010)
