COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned; has sometimes been available in the cask.
This barley wine is golden in colour with a luscious malty body. A complex blend of hops give an interesting depth and balancing bitterness. The finish lingers with a rich warmth. Something very special. Smooth deep malt blends with bright hop flavours. A hint of pear drops come from higher alcohols.

Cask (gravity) @ The National Winter Ales Festival 2008, Manchester, UK. Clear medium amber orange color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy plum, tawny / port. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. The aroma is wonderful, sweet caramel, malt, and yeast. The color is amber and it has a beutiful long lasting light brown head. The flavor is strong with notes of caramel, wood, alcohol, and berries. For me the alcohol is too present. But it is still a very nice beer.

Bottled (backlog). Slightly hazy amber colour, small white head. Aroma is bready, sweet fruity, mildly alcoholic and some glueish and toffeeish notes as well. Flavour is very similar, but is quite strong on the stinging sweetness.

Hazy orange beer. A little fruit and caramel in the nose. Soft frothy palate. The creamy head has light orange sherbet fizz! The beer has the same lovely orange but deeper and richer, almost like an orange liquer. Creamy mid and then a touch of lemon coming at the finish of this superior beer.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a hazy, amber golden with a nice, creamy head leaving a pretty lacework. Sweetish, floral - almost perfumy - aroma. Very full body with lots of malt and fruit, and then again these almost perfumy notes, that never manages to become unpleasant as they are neatly balanced by some bittering hops. Very distinct alcohol. Good stuff indeed. 080906

Bottle at 1st CBC Sunday Tasting. Thanks to Paul for this baby. Pours a clear amber with a very weak film. Lots of both fresh and ripe fruit in the aroma. Very sweet flavor, some caramel, honey, mild fruits, some bread and booze. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mild warm finish, light caramel, fruit. Pretty good stuff.
