Cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 4 on 5 August 2011. Unsurprisingly gold in colour. On this showing, not one of the better Durham golden ales - and it’s a style they usually do pretty well. Too much biscuity stuff, not enough bite or aroma hopping. Acceptable, but uneventful. With many similar beers at this festival nothing in this one really stood out.

Cask, one-third pint at B5 Harvey Bar, Great British Beer Festival ’11. Clear, amber-gold body. A few bubbles at the surface. Malt-fruity nose. Fusion of fresh dough and lemony hops in flavour. Rounded bitter end. Traditional blond ale (London, 03.08.2011).

Cask (GBBF2011, Friday)
Sweet biscuity toffee aroma. Dull smooth palate. Treated water, and soap in the aroma too. Chlorine? Minerally, but not chalky. Full of dullness. There was a bitter tingle, but it had lost me by that stage.
