Cask at C’est what? Pours cola black with light frothy head and lots of lacing. Nose is grassy hops. Notes of espresso, grassy hops, some dark fruit, some burnt toast. Tastes are light/med bitter and light sweet. Smooth mouthfeel, somewhat silky with light carbonation. Nice. gilvanblight (825) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 8, 2013
Almost solid black pour with thick tan head. Fruity scent with some malt notes. Very thick and rich mouth. A touch bitter. Lots of malts. Something seems to suck the moisture out of my mouth. Just not the right beer after an almost 5 hour drive. BreWedge (539) - goose bay, Newfoundland, CANADA - MAR 15, 2013
On cask @ Queen and Beaver TO. Aroma is roasty malt, some nuttiness, touch of coffee, maybe some licorice. Taste is very different from aroma. Piny resin comes through as does the roasty malts. Fairly smooth mouthfeel with an assertive hoppy bite. Nice black IPA.

Black colour with a tan head. aromas of oats, roast and some floral hoppy note and a light pine cone aroma. medium bodied brew with a hoppy finish and a roasted mid palate. fast finish and kind of disapointing and lightly hopped. fiulijn (20614) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 21, 2012

Black color, with small sparse head. This is a showcase of good coffee, with a light fruity touch from the hop; lean mouthfeel, dry; long coffeish final; great balance, great fresh feeling.
(more a hoppy Stout than a Black IPA, not the same body structure)
Cask. Black pour, foamy tan head. Aroma is more on a stout to me. Roared malt, some molasses, cocoa. Thick and full bodied. Slightly sweet. There’s a bitterness on the end. Maybe the roasted quality overshadows too much, but isn’t there supposed to be some stronger hop character? It’s not bad, just not what I expect from a black ipa. solidfunk (9017) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - APR 6, 2012
Smells hoppy and pours at pitch black with an eternal cream on head. The taste has a little sourness but the body is light overall. Some bitterness here but I’m not sure if it’s quite IPA-worthy hoppiness. It’s not bad, but not that full on the palate. I tried this beer on tap on March 15, 2012 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very dark brown, solid, with a long lasting creamy light brown head. Aroma consisted of roasted malt, some citrus, and weak caramel. Mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour was roasted malt, some citrusy hops, and a weak hint of grains.
On cask at the Cloak and Dagger. Pours a very dark brown/black with modest-sized tan head. Aroma is roasty with moderate earthy hops. Taste is much more roasty than hoppy, almost has a tar-ish quality. Very burnt finish. Ok, but not my favourite black IPA. Listigovers (1204) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 20, 2012
Somewhat weak aroma for a black ipa. Pours black with a lasting tan head. Taste is fresh and piney with a wonderful sparkling smooth palate and long aftertaste. Light foran ipa as well.
