COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For centuries Bavarian aristocracy kept wheat beers to themselves but is now common thoughout Germany. At least 50% of the malt is wheat and its special flavour is derived from the yeast, which gives the beer its cloudy appearence. The addition of fruit is a modern non-German practice, which is prohibited by the Reinheitsgebot. Tasting Notes  A 50% proportion of wheat malt makes a silky smooth body and large head. The special yeast provides most of the flavour in a conventional wheat beer with a spicy character of cloves and bananas. Added mango makes a delicious entry towards the finish leaving the palate clean and refreshed. Recommendations Spicy rather than sweet, but light and gentle drink on its own or try with prawn cocktail or dessert

WaddlingPlatypus (186) - Durham, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2017
Pale cloudy sparkling orange with a thick pillowy head. Lively body. Aromas of faint meat, orange, and sweet wheat. Grainy wheat on the tongue with soft mango notes; fades quickly. Softly bitter aftertaste. refreshing, paired up well with a chicken korma (as recommended on the bottle).

[Bottled, at the Great British Beer Festival, 2015 - Tutored tasting with Roger Protz] - The Durham Brewery Mango Hefeweizen, 5.5%, Straw yellow hazy. Mango, strong banana and clove on the nose. Medium body, slightly oily. Cloying sweetish start with medicinal notes, overripe bananas. Alcoholic, sweetish finish. Alcoholic aftertaste. Bah!

Bottle from Glug Newcastle. A nice flavour of banana and cloves, bit of spice and bread as well as a small sourness. Didn't get much mango but a lovely beer

downender (8891) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2015
On tap at the Grain Barge, Bristol 12/5/2015. Hazy gold with a slight, white, head. SLightly tart aroma of tropical fruits, banana and grains. Flavour had more fruit, a yeasty edge and vaguely sour finish. Fine.

Bottle. Cloudy orange appearance upon pouring-not a good start. The explosion that followed opening didn’t help either. A fairly one dimensional fruity taste. Always liked this breweries beers so this came as a shock. Not recommended,

SinH4 (6260) - Garching b. Mnchen, GERMANY - FEB 1, 2015
Golden color, white head. Aroma is weird mango, a bit yeast funk. Taste is actually quite nice: tart, fruity, spicy. Silky Weizen mouthfeel, finish is a bit tart again. Quite okay, the taste is fine but the aroma is weird...

ManVsBeer (10952) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 13, 2015
Keg @ Narrowboat, Skipton. Sadly served in completely the wrong glass for this style Hazy amber-blonde with no head. Has a light weissbier character within its nose and texture, but a poor imitation in reality. It does have a mild fruity taste though with a bushy-floral nose.

allmyvinyl (11025) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 12, 2014
330ml bottle from the brewery online shop, shared with AshtonMcCobb. Pours hazy pale gold, no head. Aromas are a bit funky and sulphurous, some green mango. Taste has more of the fruit, bit funky. OK.

Bottle from the brewery. Appearance - golden and cloudy with a thin head that disappears quite quickly. Nose - pungent fruit and wild yeast infection. Funky! Taste - ripe mango and some banana. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry and quite decent finish. Overall - well, it didn’t smell good and there’s definitely a funkiness. But it got better.

stravale (3145) - Co. Westmeath, IRELAND - NOV 18, 2014
Bottle from Bottle Shop, Cheadle Hulme [171114]
Pale orange-yellow, hazy, big frothy white head, gushed a bit
Aroma of sweet mango juice, soft sweet citrus fruit
Taste of quite tangy citrus, soft creamy wheat, some juicy mango, good simple flavours, no clove or bubble gum
Palate - Medium carb, medium light body, smooth, sweet, some tart citrus, fairly bubbly texture. Finish of soft creamy wheat, fruits
Overall - Not a typical Hefeweizen...this is a fruit wheat beer. Refreshing, easy going. The mango works well in this. Decent.
